You can use the names directly, you just need to put them in quotes in your events to use them. Works fine for me. Set Layer to "Main" works just fine.

I will try to check this because tutorial informs us to use number.

I also had to spend some time to fix errors after rearranging/adding/renaming layers because of this

I mean the browse screen of instance variables.

eg. after we select monster object, we right-click and select "instance variables...". On that browse screen that allow us to add new instance variable, it only show 3 column: name, type, initial value.

Please add description to this browse screen. This increase readability.

I try the beginner tutorial.

Layer 0 is background.

Layer 1 is Main.

When we set event details, we use layer 1 instead of Main.

Why not using the layer unique name "Main" directly?

If we rearrange the order of layer, the event details still use layer 1 which become background.

Request:

1. use layer name directly (recommended), or,

2. whenever we re-arrange the order of layer, C2 will search through all details and replace with correct layer automatically

Similary, could we give image point a meaningful name? eg. front / center/ etc.

I test this on win 7:

The column width is auto-adjusted so that all text could be seen. No saving.

(I tested it on win xp this morning. No auto-adjust or saving column is available. I will confirm xp next day again)

We could enter description of instance variable.

After that, it is not shown in instance variable list.

(Name, Type, initial value ONLY, why not add one more column for description???) We need to double-click the variable to see description. Very incontinent.

After I change the font size, the text occupy more lines.

Then I adjust the column width to make it in one line again.

After I re-run C2, the column width reset to small one.

How to save the column width in event sheet?

(It is very inconvenient to adjust over and over again)

I want to know too. We should be allowed to do so because it is the same product Construct 2, no matter it is on steam or on Scirra.

Steam just provide a place for grouping games or softwares only.

For example, if we buy GTA 4 on steam, we can still access social group. It is the same GTA4 selling in everywhere. No difference.
