  • CASE STUDY:

I would like to build an app with C2:

    • Job portal app - people can make profile and post inside the app, with ratings and such. built in social media. i.e. hire-a-nanny app

    • location dependent -- google maps dependent and tracks down people registered nearby.

Let me see your advice/inputs if C2 can manage creating one. I have another case study concerning about a game dependent on google maps. Let's see the developer's insight on this

  • pokemon go. replying in 2017 hahaha

  • hmm thanks for the comments guys though this post is late, I would like to try your suggestions and its so beneficial to me

  • i'm developing a coloring book and some leads are pointing me to this plug in. i just want to know if there will be an option such as a paint bucket, drag and drop colors to a line art. I would like to have a tutorial on that =(

  • I think C3 has good potential to be an awesome development tool on tablet type devices. I'm using a Surface Pro 4, but even if C3 runs well on it, it's not yet optimized for use with touch/stylus, so even if it runs, you're still bound to a desk with mouse and keyboard, because of some minor issues. So far these are some of the issues I have at the moment, that I hope will be resolved soon (I filed bugs for most of the touch/stylus related problems)

    * Touch & Stylus, not working well for manipulating objects and zooming/scrolling in layout.

    * Stylus has problems with interactions like double clicking etc. (Chrome/Browser issue)

    * Clicking with stylus in input boxes does not open the touch keyboard. (Works with touch though)

I guess multiplatform support with C3 does not include tablet type devices yet. Some if the issues are browser specific issues, that works well in Edge, but does not work in chrome. So for now don't plan on making games on a tablet, unless you have a keyboard and mouse with you

So far I'm still using C2, until these issues are resolved. C2 works surprisingly well with touch/stylus, even though I think it was never intended or even designed to work that way.

I hope we get more voices heard so the scirra team can invest in some tablet devices and start doing some proper design towards users who hate sitting at desks and/or bulky laptops :p

is surface pro 4 a winner in using c2? i think its going to be a good investment. also, planning to have lenovo pad (the one with stylus, newly launched)

  • oh, man. I"m now regretting my ipad pro. I bought it as i love sketching and painting. But what i noticed, i have my laptop with me which is massive, ( i got a gaming laptop which is ROG g series, one of the first generation bulky ones). I noticed the surface pro 4 should've do the job, as i can work on the go (just imagine going to a quiet cafe and spend your afternoons there encoding your games. we need that "escape" sometimes to think of ideas) I just hate that ipad pro feels like "unprofessional" well, this topic is for c3 but i think we can discuss the workflows right?

What if we develop an app for ipad pro? but nah, it's still unconvenient and its kinda not practical. if only it's possible. if only i can trade off my ipad pro for sf 4 haha what matters for me now is the workflow. C3 DID A PRETTY NEAT STUFF now, making it browser based now.

  • Please correct me if i'm just an ignorant, since c3 is now working as a browser based engine and able to function on mac, can this be accessed on ipad pro and with cloud based assets saved there? just wondering. i know it sucks with ipads to be marketed as "mini computers" but all it can do are straightforward consumer "boxed" functions. So i'm imagining how c3 can be used in ipad pro or there are plans. (as this is the only thing i have for now) sometimes i regret buying this over surface pro 4. I'm now intrigued to try it now on my ipad pro when i arrive home. it will be lovely if i can design game (with ready to get assets of course from my cloud server or whatever work process i may come up with) on the go while on a cozy coffee shop after my day job- i get the usual inspiration if i go to "out" not on usual work spot.

another issue if it may work with ipad pro, what would I use as mouse? will future plans will have . "tablet/touch screen friendly option for cs3"?

  • I have a case study game/app in mind. I want a camera + gps location (sort of a pokemon go) but this app is more like a drop pin and mark the map scenario. (real life streets, more like it locates your location and mark it.)

then your phone camera can be used to take snaps or put your own pics on that marker..

Another case study is use the real life locating system but the display can be a fantasy map/fictional.

I'm just wondering if there's a plugin about this in C2 or if you can tinker on it backend.

I'm a newbie btw and i haven't fully grasped the full potential of c2 but i guess participating here in forums would help. What i can observe, there is not much an app by c2 that relies on locations or there aren't tutorials around? or i'm just not searching enough?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • cool guys for the inputs! actually i hope this might evolved sooner. I researched some app building softwares-they may be reliable but this is a first that i encountered such capabilities importing to different platforms. I haven't fully scrutinized C2 yet but i think there's an option for advanced users to tinker with the coding?

  • Hi, guys,

This question made me think: what if construct 2 isn't just a game maker, but an app maker for your company or event?

As i was browsing through the forums, studying c2 and during my main job as a designer ( i work in a special events company)

I encountered making apps for events. I just wondered, why not i make this app in my c2 though its not a game? and have a template out of it?

Good idea right? the apps we make in Construct software can be applicable to simple drop and click app guides for corporate event guides.

I'm wondering if scirra would go the extra effort on this. I won't demand for too many things but if this was applicable to games, what more to apps that requires simple logic or functions? it's a nice platform, that permits cross publishing between ios and android so i love using this.

If construct can't do this, are there any other product out there that's so simple, (i'm not a computer programmer and i'm more focused on front end designing) manageable like construct app engine that lets you publish in different platforms? of course, same style as drag and drop and bit logic.
