  • If it was based on Chromium instead, for example, you'd get all of that, but WebKit by itself is pretty poor for games.

I'm no programmer at all but I am imagining: what if Scirra creates a full Chromium-based browser that can work on any console, as part of the game itself?

For example, upon export, a particular module in C2 bundles the game with a Chromium that's made for it, so that it will work easily on the console. Would that be that hard to do? Sorry if I'm saying blasphemies hehe, as I said I have no clue when it comes to programming, but if I was a programmer, I'd certainly try to see what I can do for that :)

  • Thanks Sulli and ! I'll continue observing how working on a project while having others open may affect possible bugs further in development or not.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Hey C2 mates :)

I'm starting with my first test of C2 by making a runner game and I had the same problem even when I used a box sprite (not pinning it to the animations but setting the position in every tick,) but this problem fixed itself when I used only short solids with multiple animation frames. I'll explain.

The reason this bug was happening (I guess it's a bug, unless I missed something else, 'cause I've tried really everything to fix the problem), from what I understood, is that if I used a very wide solid that spans the width of the first screen or is wider than it (either tailed background solid or sprite solid) the player box has problem with that, disappears, or is inconsistent in movement etc, but once there were more objects on the screen that use all the three different animation frames of the sprite animation strip, the problem disappeared.

So if you ever still have this problem, try to use a sprite solid as a ground for the game with at least 3 different frames of possible animations (for example leftern edge, middle, and rightern edge), and place three of them in the first, hmm, window of the game (I mean the first screen, not the whole level, or maybe just go for it and use them outside the first screen in the layout) see if it solves your problem?

  • Good work, the item's graphics remind me of an old arcade game where you play a spirit that changes bodies (forgot the name :) I wanted to suggest you add an animation for the jump, because the character keeps running in the air and it doesn't give a feeling of jumping at all, so with an animation it would make the player feel more in control, just an opinion.

  • Thanks Keroberos and marlon667, I am imagining that a possible problem that could happen is if I save in my prototype project many times, and the other data in RAM from the second project would affect the prototype, as in possible crash in further steps etc, but I'm just supposing. For example another soft I use is Headway which is a framework for building websites on Wordpress, works right in the browser, and opening more than one instance (in two separate projects) can create bugs and problems. Thanks again for any other response!

  • Hello!

Is it ok to have 2 C2 projects open at the same time? Example: 1- an example game & 2- my prototype game, in order to learn how stuff work.

Until now I'm taking screenshots (events, object properties etc)then I close the example project, so that I have only one single project open at a time, but taking screenshots/image editing etc takes time. Any recommendations?

I also noticed C2 can be opened twice: having C2 open, I could click the software shortcut and it opens another C2 in a separate window, is this ok? Is it possible to work safely/safer with 2 opened C2's?

As you can see these are total beginner questions, but I found no answer anywhere on the forum or in the manual, thanks in advance for your help :)

  • Hi Smit08,

You said you published two games, but I see 5 games by Riomonster? Are those yours, or did you mean you participated in just two of them, if yes, then which ones?

Quick edit: hello everyone, it's nice to see your great games, I'm just starting to explore what the community have done already, I intend to create games and publish them to Google Play (and later to the App store etc) thanks everyone for sharing your cool stuff

  • Ohey!

It's Karim from Africa, discovered Contact2 recently and I've finished two basic tutorials already, looks very cool, hope the bugs on the arcade games disappear! (bugs or slowing downs?,) Anyway glad to meet you everyone and looking up to see what you make ^^

    Lowren: bienvenue!

Edit: oops I didn't see everyone else when I typed my message, so nice to meet you everyone and I wish you a cool time playing with this C2 thing : )
