  • Whats the difference between 2 && 3 ??

    2-3 =-1

  • Hi Ashley,

    Quick request

I've been trying to figure out a way to update my APK on the Google Play Console, but each time it requested I upload an APK with a different Version Code.

Took me ages to figure out what I needed to do. Trying multiple programs... with no luck.

In the end, I simply opened the config.xml file and added in this line (in bold) between the other two:

    version="1.0.0.1" android-versionCode="10001" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/ns/widgets"

Took quite a bit of research to find out that I could add this in, as it's described as optional. Not sure why it isn't included by default.

My question is, is there a reason why this isn't included when we build the app? Also, is it possible to perhaps make this process a bit easier? Say including a Version Code properties section within Construct itself? Perhaps next to the Version number in the about section?

have you changed version in your project before export?

if i remember well on my app C2 automatically change the parameter you changed manually if you change version on the project field.

  • Howdy--

What's the real bottom line difference between C2 && C3 ?? When it was first talked about I thought it was going to be a 3-D engine but it dosen't look like it. I have been off reading a bunch of science fiction novels lately && haven't really kept up much && thought I would ask-- thanks &&

    kind regards, mark-p.

    wrong section i think..

  • i have made a simple tutorial to do that, hope you all appreciate.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I get comments that people want to play my app, but listen to their music. Is this need never been satisfied before?

  • Good question.

I see that other applications containing audio behave exactly the same.

But I need the user to be able to turn off my audio so that he can continue to play and listen his music.

    Is it possible?

    uhm i think not

  • NN81 what are you suggesting that I "trigger once"? the spacebar actually has two functions within the game

(I know my leader-board is a little messed up at the moment, I'm just glad the game is visible and works.)

Do you mean on the menu screen, so that it's not affecting entry into the game - starting off with the sword swing?

im refer at when you hit spacebar to do attack, if i hold spacebar sound effect play "infinite times", i think here is better place a trigger once condition to play only one time

  • Personally I mostly use 3d software to create much of my artwork, even if i'm doing a 2D game. I just work a lot faster in Maya, and if you do a 3d model you can just change angle, rotate and deform it to quickly make more variations. I find 3d much more handy as you can use 3d software to make 2d sprites, or use simple 3d objects as reference and quckly draw pixel or 2d art on it. But starting from scratch, for me making 2D artwork takes a lot longer time.

I think animation in 3d is a lot easier also, but maybe that's just because i'm used to it.

Learning 3d software can take a lot of time though as it's a lot more complex, with modeling, texturing, UV mapping, rigging, skinning, animating, lighting, shaders, rendering. It's so complex in some cases that in bigger development studios, there can be one person hired for almost each of those areas.

2d or pixel art is faster to start with I think, and due to the more retro feeling you can get away with a lot. Animations can be just a couple of frames and a bit choppy, it's part of the charm. It doesn't have to be 30 frames per second smooth animations.

So all in all, I think 3d is more flexible but harder. 2d/pixel art is faster and more forgiving but can still look cool.

i agree whith you, also I think I think that in general pixelart requires more artistic skills and 3D more technical skills.

  • So I tried to import an individual sprite at first:

    https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/316256462483619861/383322477591265292/unknown.png

Error converting GMX: Cannot locate element "sprites".

Got this error. I then thought maybe it'd be better if I just tried importing the whole gmx, C2 gets to a certain point importing then crashes and closes...

    Thanks for any help.

I do not think they are compatible

  • Hi,

I've no problem setting up an XBOX 360 Controller, but I bought some USB Snes type controllers the other day hoping to use them in Construct 2 for a bit of a retro feel, but I've ran into a hitch. I can't seem to get the D-Pad to work correctly. I can get some directions working, but others seem to have a mind of their own. Maybe I'm implementing them wrong.

I know the pads are working ok, they both output the correct values in Windows 10 Controller Config - the hat of the D-Pad moves as it should etc. there's also very little info in the Construct 2 manual on alternate gamepads.

    Any ideas guys?

    Update...

After some further testing it seems that the Left and Right (Y Axis) is detected, <-1 for Left and >1 for Right. The Up and Down (X Axis) doesn't appear to change when used. I tested the controller until I found a number where nothing happened when the controller was centered, this odd number was 329. But testing higher or lower doesn't seem to be detected, leading me to assume that Construct 2 doesn't detect the X Axis of the Gamepad sadly.

Guess I'll have to return them, as they aren't going to be much use.

i know that only xbox360 compatible controllers are fully supported, other devices may have inverted or unavailable functions

  • I'm so confused on sizes of objects. For example, if I make a button, just a box (sprite), and then change it to be a png button, the size of the image I used is limited to the original size of the box sprite that I had. Is there a way to not have this? I've been getting around this by setting the size of the object on start of layout, but I'd love to know what I'm doing wrong.

i'have not understanding, can you take some screenshots at what you refere or maybe post a .capx that i can recognize better the problem?

  • My new game is ready to play. Please try it out here:

i think you have to put a "trigger once" when press spacebar
