You could store all your NPC messages in an array. Then its just a case of selecting which message to display.

The traditional programmers tell you global variables are bad. They do make the code a bit more difficult to handle in some respects but in terms of performance they will have no effect at all.

Then you just need to ensure your 3 x,y co-ords ( for triangle) or 4 x,y co-ords for rectangle are always set in relation to the center point.
Did you look at the plugin? You can export your data to a csv file and import it into an array. I assumed from your original post that is what you wanted to do.
At some point the data has to be created. Probably best to create it externally then use a csv plugin or similar.
