I'll admit, this seems like one of the more interesting/well done top down shooters I've seen in a long time.
Have you thought about going the Reloaded route and designing levels for players to navigate while enemies continuously spawn? Or the Fallout route of making an open world, maybe stories and individual missions?

exploring levels is a topic for me, but i dont think i can handle fast-flowing gameplay with it. but it has a story related results to experience :)
