  • Hello! I am currently working on an 2D RTS game similar to the Age of Empires RTS type.

    The game is called: "Colonials"

As you can see from (The pictures below!) There are A LOT of features missing such as: Minimap, unit animation, bunch of game mechanics, and there is not multiplayer feature yet.

I also have my own subreddit for this game (If you want to see progress): http://www.reddit.com/r/Colonials

You can also download current version (Alpha: 1.0.5): http://www.mediafire.com/download/gvm26 ... onials.rar

(You might need to download NW.js to play this game on your desktop. Also there is some problem with the HUD not being fully visible if you have it fullscreen!)

You can spawn villagers by pressing spacebar! (It is not going to be like that when the game is finished!)

Tell me what you guys think of this game! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

  • Well, it's not ideal, but this might help your on your way.

Edit 1: Among the problems it has-

Some weird behaviors based on the fact that while the cursor is at 15, 15 on a tile, your click-and-drag will be at an odd offset.

    Nothing prevents walls from overlapping.

No special handling for walls intersecting

Not using different image for vertical vs horizontal walls once built.

Thanks! I am going to look into this! Also i think i have som solutions for these problems. With the overlapping problem, isn't it possible to make the z order based on X & Y coordinate?

  • Are your walls only going to be horizontal or vertical; no diagonals?

Yes, only horizontal or vertical. Not diagonals (Might put ut in if it is easier)

How to I make a 2D wall placement system? I am currently in the progress of an RTS game and I struggle finding a solution for this problem.

I want it to work pretty similar to the one in this video except less "Smoothly" It is gonna be a 32x grids.

    I highly appreciate some help on this one! <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

Edit1: Also i want it to be from this view perspective:

  • I have made a lot of health bar stuff. I might be able to help. However i don't have a capx for you at the moment, but imma try help you when i get home.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Ah, I see. So HPA97 - if your values are already numbers you can omit that int - just have round(yourvalue/gridspacing)*gridspacing. Perhaps saves a picosecond of processing time somewhere

Thanks, you guys are realy helpfull! Much appreciated!

  • Something like

    round(int(YOURVALUE)/32)*32

    Thanks a lot! It worked.

  • Not sure if the title is correct, but what I am asking for is how do i get a number like 57 to become rounded to 64. 34 to 32, etc...

I am currently working on a grid system where i want an object to jump between grids to not go smoothly over corresponding to my mouse x & y coordinates. I want the numbers of my coordinates to pick the closest 32x.

  • Hey!

I want to share some picture from a RTS game I am currently working on.

However I am having struggle with unit control. My units are quite rough to handle and the path finding is a bit sketchy :/

Here is some pictures of my current progress!

(07/10/2014) RIGHT CLICK AND OPEN IMAGE IN NEW PAGE!! Some part of the left side of the image isn't showing for some reason...
