  • oh man, I was really hoping there would be an easier way lol. Oh well thanks!

  • Try Construct 3

  • So I was wondering, when making 2d sprite animations like so   <img src="http://network.mugenguild.com/balthazar/gallery2/HurricaneKick.gif" border="0" />

what should I keep in mind?

-Should I keep the canvas size the same throughout the entire animation? or the entire character?

-Does changing the collision box every frame kill CPU?

I'm trying to make a party fighting game smash bros and jump ultimate super stars, but I'm new to this and would love some tips! I'm just not sure what would kill cpu/memory and slow down network battles

  • I read that before I posted, but Instead of posting my capx (i didn't know how and this was easier), I posted the animation I was talking about.

But since it's a jump/kick, he's traveling thorough a larger canvas, which is like his animation stage.

  • So I have this animation of a kick move that makes the character travel about 120 pixels. At the end of this move, when he goes to the next animation, it starts him again 120 pixels back. I was trying to mess around with the origin point and stuff, but couldnt figure out a way around it.

There's the image I'm trying to work with.

Also, should I set my canvas the same for ALL animations? or just keep it the same for each individual animation set?

    Thanks :)

  • Ok, I played with it a little big last night and it seemed pretty straight forward with how to make the animations. I couldnt figure out how to do the animation player OR how to time each frame for animation. Any help on that? :)   Thanks for all your help!

  • Anyone have any thoughts on GIMP for animation?

  • I'm going to try to gets some practice in with some sprites, animation, and hit boxes while my artist works on the characters.

I noticed the editor in construct isn't so great, what do most people use?

    Thanks!

  • Here is a good site for sprites

    spriters-resource.com

  • Well i think I'll at least do a prototype in Construct 2, and see how well it works! Now I just have to find a sprite animation editor to practice, and some tutorials for sprites. Plenty of that around on them internets!

    Awesome sprites and animations :)

I know right?! I was very excited to find this guy.

XNA is definitely a choice, but I would also like to create a the game for mobile platforms also. I was thinking Unity because it's much easier to use than strictly scripting like XNA, but the Unity XBOX dev kit is 1,500, which I could definitely save up for, but its still a hefty price. Not to mention that the android an iPhone dev kits are also expensive + licenses. Any other suggestions on multi platform, relatively easy to use 2D endinges?

Thank you all so much for your help btw!    <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • oh man so it looks like i started with the wrong platform :/ I have been searching for weeks and can't find a piece of software that fits my needs!anyone have any suggestions? I would like to do at least a little bit of coding (but not too much) I loved how easy construct 2 is, but it looks like if I want to get multiple platforms out of it, i can't go with it. Either way thanks, and any other suggestions are appreciated!

  • oh really? There's no plugin or mod or anything to do so? What all platforms does it export to?
