  • Have you guys seen

    ? Yipes!

  • I would have liked to have seen another option under "What it is the most important factor in your decision to download a game?" That is, "Game Mechanic." Maybe that's covered under "genre," but I wasn't sure.

For example, I'll probably never download a platformer to my phone. I'll never download a Pacman-like or Space Invaders-like, nor probably an asteroids-like. So, game mechanic is important in my selection.

I also generally prefer to download a free version to sample before buying a full copy. If a game is buy-only with no preview/pre-test, I generally try to find something else.

The last game I downloaded was "Bad Piggies," which is such a great game idea. I think the "design/build your own" to accomplish an objective is a great mechanic. :-)

  • What's the strategy you guys are using for stylized user input? I'm using a textbox with Web Fonts right now, but the font starts off way too small for the screen (because of "Auto font size"). I wish I could set the initial size and THEN enable "Auto font size." Hmmmm... maybe I can.

In the meantime, should I not use "Auto font size" and try resizing per tick? That seems so wasteful.

How are y'all doing this these days?!

  • Joannesalfa, he was a prolific Game Salad developer who got tired of the limits there and came to Construct 2. But since he introed himself, I haven't seen anything else. :-/

  • I wonder where tshirtbooth went.

  • I want to put some comments in the event sheet, but not at the top (event) level but at the actions level. Can this be done? It would be a nice feature, as some of my comments are specific to an action and not the entire event.

  • Can I provide my capx so you can see what I want to do? I don't think a simple For Each is going to cut it (but I don't know enough to know for sure, and your code didn't deal with a Family as far as I could tell).

  • On start-up of my layout, I need to step through each instance of a sprite found in a family so I can set their positions/scale. I see the "For Each" and "For" loops, but I can't figure out how to affect each instance. I'm sure there's a way... Anybody know how?

    Pseudo code would be like:

    Local Int:h = LayoutHeight

    Local Int:c = 0

    Local Int:pad = 20

    For Each bttn in My_Buttons

    bttn.Y = SetY( h/My_Buttons.count * c + pad)

    c += 1

    Next

    Thank you!

  • You know how games have IAP where you can buy stuff to help in the game you're playing? I think this web site should have IAP of sorts in that you can buy rep to get to the top of the list! WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!!

  • Ah, gotcha. LOL! Just a little misunderstanding, is all...

The individual tutorials each have their own discussion thread, but you're right. There is no forum specifically for "tutorials" where tutorials can be requested or discussed.

  • Oh, there's the problem. People think Rhindon's forum is at this web site (scirra), when he clearly states his forum is on Facebook.

Now, while I don't believe it's a problem having a forum for Christians to discuss Christian themes in games here at scirra.com's forums, it might be better to have it off-site, since it isn't necessarily scirra-product specific (despite the fact that this is an OPEN TOPIC FORUM!).

    GOOD NIGHT! :-)
