I was going to do it with variables, but from the look of the original CAPX, it seemed as if Annisa12 mightn't have known how to use them, and the changes I made were already vast, so I didn't want to add confusion

  • I think this CAPX will be more towards what you're after.

The WarmBlood animals will rotate right when you drag them on the day, and the ColdBlood animals will rotate left when you drag them on the night. And if you drop them anywhere else the will return to their original positions which are set at the start of the layout.

Note : That I have used families to make the code smaller, as well as put in conditions so you can't switch from day to night or move animals until the animations have finished.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me

  • So I've been searching all over the forums here for a tutorial or example of such a game, but alas I can not find one that either does not require a plug-in or in actually going to suit my purpose.

The premise of my game, is for an RTS, but I would like it to be playable against humans on other machines, and not just the computer on the same machine.

As it stands I can use the WebSocket for text, but not co-ordinates of players. Though I was thinking of maybe using it to send large blobs of text relaying the x,y co-ords and UID of enemies, but feel there must be a better way.

Any help, ideas, or plug-ins that may help (though I prefer to do the work myself) would be apreciated

  • That was it. Silly me

  • The problem I'm facing is when you click the Spawn button, the item spawned should be set to the mouses X,Y position, and when you left click, it should be placed a the same spot on the bottom layer.

What is actually happening is that it is being set to the bottom layer, but in the bottom layers Mouse X,Y.

If someone could have a looksie at this and see if they could solve the issue, it'd be muchly appreciated, as this is one of the problems that my RTS is facing.

  • I'm trying to do a Fog of War style overlay, but I keep coming up with results that end up in low FPS, thus making my game sluggish. I susspect there is a way to do what I'm wanting more eleegantly, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

That is the simple version of what I'm trying to achieve, but obviously with something that is less slow.

    Thanks in advance peeples

  • I was just looking for something similar and found this example, hope it helps.

  • Please ignore, I have solved this issue :)

  • I am trying to have it that when you select a certain object, and Ctrl is not down, that everything but the one you selected will be deselected.

I have it that if other instances are selected and you hold Ctrl they will be selected too, or deselected, but can't get this other part working.

I've attached a CAPX of this, and am hoping someone here can help. As you can tell by viewing it, it's going to become an RTS, and ideally it should work like the original Warcraft or Starcraft does with unit selection :)

  • That did the trick ErekT. Thank you :D
