  • You can already do that. Just use the ordinary request action; all the project files are in the same folder so you can request them by their name alone e.g. "myfile.txt".

I tested here with "Request URL" action, and it works perfectly.

    It was so easy that I felt embarrassed. <img src="smileys/smiley9.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    However, thanks for the help, Ashley. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Hello, Scirra staff and Scirra community.

I am suggesting a small improvement in AJAX plugin, specifically in "Request project file" action.

Currently, this action only allows to choose a resource file in a list. My suggestion is also to choose a file by writing its name. This way, it would be possible to request a file from a string, a variable, global variable, etc.

I'm developing a game with choice of languages ??via JSON files (array). I am bound to create some conditions for each language (requesting project file). If I could call a variable, with few actions I could do what I do with various actions by resource file.

    Best regards,

  • I uploaded a new version in Scirra Arcade: http://www.scirra.com/arcade/example/2266/array-manager-to-construct-2

  • Avi4Bmp is an app that convert videos (.AVI ou .MPG) and animated GIFs in a spritesheet (.PNG ou .BMP).

It is also convert a grid image in an .AVI or it split in various .PNG files.

  • Very cool.

It would be nice that each time you change to a new position in the array using the up/down arrows in the set array position section that the value would update automatically (or provide that option).

    Great work!

    Thanks for your review, justifun.

I intend to improve the Array Manager with a friendly GUI, an automatic view (as your suggestion), a search feature and two versions (one to Scirra Arcade without FileReader plugin and other with the plugin).

  • Try Construct 3

  • Array Manager is an app made with Construct 2 where it is possible to create, save and load external arrays in JSON format. All C2's array plugin operations are supported.

Use this app, e.g., to make and edit many texts to a huge project like a RPG. Just create the array, save it (download JSON) and insert it as resource file in your project.

Thanks to Pode and your FileReader plugin.

  • Hello everybody.

I recently started a game project called The Two Witnesses. It is a RPG/Platform game with christian theme.

In this moment, the project is in crowdfunding stage.

For more info, please visit the project page here.

    Thank you. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle">

  • why not WASD or arrow keys to move? Why Rts style movement for what appears to be a survival action game. And the only way to mitigate an attack is to flee from the vicinity? And when you attack the player stops moving? never seemed like a time when you should attack since you are WAY to vulnerable while doing so. No defense? No shield?

How about WASD or arrow to navigate, left mouse to swing sword (which I couldnt' really see), right click shield, middle arrows. At least that way i feel empowered even if the odds are against me.

    Thanks to your comment, TPorter64.

I prefer an Action RPG style because I am participating Favourite Features competition, and I want to highlight the Bullet behavior. I used the same style like Diablo series (Diablo is harder that my game, and main movement is with mouse).

In future, I intend to maker other games with other styles, and keyboard use will be important.

  • A US$ 99 console can be a hit in poor countries like Brazil (here!), India, China...

If Scirra makes an Ouya exporter I'll find a way to get 99 bucks and buy one.

It is true, "amigo do Brasil". A cheap videogame easily will sell in our country and others poors countries, plus a cheap game maker with many "exporters" will bring opportunities to all indie game developers.

    HTML5 and indie developers will conquer the world. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I did not know that Dropbox have bandwidth limits too, but I wrote about Dropbox as an example. Perhaps there are other free hosts with more or unlimited bandwidth?

However, thanks to read my suggestion Mr. Ashley. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Arcade is a good feature in Scirra site, but I understand that, to avoid overloading in the server and malicious apps, the upload limit size is 10mb and just some plug-ins are allowed.

However, I know that many people (like me) wish to share their creations in Arcade, but they cannot because the limits. I cannot upload my two games because both are over 10mb.

So, I suggest an option where I also can embed my creations in Arcade from other hosts. E.g.: I upload a game in Dropbox, copy the public link, paste it in Arcade, set the width and height, upload a picture and the site automatically adjust my game in an <iframe>.

I believe this would save space and traffic on the Scirra server, and we would have more freedom to show our work. Obviously, it would be necessary moderators to verify the games before publication (to avoid bad software).

    Well, that is all. <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • I read the news about OUYA recently in a brazilian download site (I was going to create a topic about it, but fortunately it was not necessary <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />).

Since, according the OUYA developers, the console is open-source, I believe it would be a great addition to the Scirra portfolio. I will be happy to develop games with Construct 2 and export them, in addition to browsers (PC, Mac, Linux) and mobile devices (Android and iOS), to a console.

Dude, game creation to a videogame console is my child dream. <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />
