  • In the main install directory, there's an XML file called "startdlg" which lists out all the examples and templates. Remove the blocks of XML corresponding to the items you'd like removed from the starting dialog.

    Thank you so much!

    This did the trick. I removed everything apart from:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>

    <startdlg>

         <template filename="[empty]">

              <name>New empty project</name>

              <image>0</image>

              <description>Create a new empty platform-neutral project with default settings.</description>

         </template>

    </startdlg>

    And now I only get the template for "New empty project". Which is exactly what I was hoping to achieve!

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • This is what I'm trying to do...

    I would like to remove the examples and templates from the list when you create a new project.

    Deleting the files from the project folder doesn't do the trick. They still show up in the list and when you select one you get an error and the program crashes.

    Why do I want this? I want to use Construct 2 in teaching and avoid students using existing templates for their assignments, rather then creating everything from scratch and really understanding the software...

  • Thank you for the reply!

    So I had a further look.

    Please let me know if I understand this correct:

    One option is:

    • Get a Nexus Android device (Tablet for example)
    • Create the game with touch controls on C2
    • Export via COCOONJS
    • Copy the exported files as a zip onto tablet
    • play the game via CocoonJS Launcher App
    • Compile it through the CocoonJS site to Google Play store

    Is this the gist of it?

    And phonegap is similar. You upload your zipped project, phonegap buils it and you can run it through a phonegap app I take it?

  • Hi all!

    I'm a fresh teacher and last year started using Construct 2 in my classes. I had a good Year 9 class and their final projects was this game:

    scirra.com/arcade/action/2114/zero-g-game

    They had to build the game and then make modifications like a reverse thruster and also build their own levels.

    I will continue using Construct 2 this year, but I'm very interested in creating phone apps, but I feel overwhelmed as to what I need to get.

    I'm not looking for a guide, just some pointers to resources / manuals. Personally I have a Windows Phone 8 (Lumia 620), but I read something about having to use Visual Studio and that confused me.

    As a teacher I am looking for the "easiest" solution to be honest in terms of getting everything up and running and access to good resources.

    Also what devices are recommended. I will likely only purchase a single device, the students will work on a Windows 7 PC with Chrome.

  • keepee Thanks i use your "object.physics.VelocityY" but last two of your option i dont know how use

    Looks like the Pythagoras formula :)

  • capx file?

  • Hi all!

    I still wasn't 100% happy and playing around with friction, elasticity and all these properties didn't really improve things.

    However I had more luck with the action: Physics world stepping

    I increased particularly one setting: Position iterations. I changed it from 3 to 30 and now the blocks settle down quickly, even at gravity 10.

    I checked the manual and while "Set stepping iterations" is explained, position iterations is not.

    So I'm wondering if someone could help me understand this particular setting. Whatever it does it solves my issue. The blocks settle down quick and the game is now really nicely playable and I can think about adding a system for players to take turns and so on...

  • Hi all!

    I am trying to build a physics game similar to the classic jenga game.

    I have a solid floor and several blocks that I build a wall with. What I want is to clock on a piece of the wall and remove it. This works, however the wall doesn't stop bouncing, even when I have elasticity set to off.

    capx: dl.dropbox.com/u/93868285/Physics%20Wall.capx

    Game: dl.dropbox.com/u/93868285/Physics%20Wall/index.html

    I played around with the amount of gravity which does improve things (like 2 or 3), but sometimes I again run into a situation where the blocks simply don't stop moving / swinging as if they have an engery source of their own :)

    DOH!

    Answered my own question. Solved it by increasing the linear and rotational dampening.

  • Use a force for that sprite to simulate gravity?

  • Edit: Actually, it seems the dropbox link updated to the final game. I guess you can just play it from there now actually. hah

    Very nice!

    Any chance you could share the capx? Really interested to learn how you did the explosions and the "auto-collecting" of the yellow extras.

  • Hi all!

    I started using Construct 2 in my teaching and so far we have made quite basic things. I watched quite a few YT tutorials and studied the examples and documentation and for our next project we are going to build something slightly larger.

    Students will build the same game, but design their own levels / mazes.

    The game is quite simple. You need to navigate the maze in zero G. If you go to fast there is a warning message and your ship is at risk of exploding.

    Controls are the three arrow keys up, left and right.

  • Me too!

    I'll upload them all onto a Dropbox account.

    The layout is 8000x8000 so huge for those who really want to build something large.

    I'd like to upload all their games to share.

    I did the voice with Audacity. Just record your voice nd change the pitch :)
