  • I'm working on a project where I need to import images into C2. Unfortunately these images are .svg

    Is there any way that I can convert the image on its way into C2?

    The user would enter their unit ID# which would then be requested from the API through AJAX. A link to the .svg is provided in the returned information.

  • I didn't know where to post this, but I felt like the potential impact was large enough that it could go here.

    Newgrounds is one of the largest portals for web content and has recently begun to accept HTML5 content. There have even been collaborative game jams between Scirra and Newgrounds. Yet, the Newgrounds API, which provides useful services like version control, high score boards, site whitelisting, and opportunities for ad revenue has not been fully translated into JS, nor is there a plugin for C2 that allows us to take advantage of anything more than the medal system.

    I'm no programmer, so there's nothing that I can directly do about this. However, I can call attention to this and attempt to open discussion. I feel that if C2 developers had access to these features it would be immensely helpful to both the Scirra and Newgrounds communities.

    I feel that the nature of this task is one that financial reward wouldn't be effective in solving, but I am willing to give a few hundred dollars to anyone who does it. That probably isn't enough money, but it's what I can afford. Maybe we could all chip in and see if anyone on NG is interested? Other ideas are totally welcome.

    Personally, my latest game on NG would really benefit from a high score board and I'd like to have one.

  • We've got API for Kongregate, but not for Newgrounds?

    I feel like this is a huge missed opportunity. Newgrounds sees more traffic, and with the recent 2030 Jam, there are a lot of C2 projects on NG. Not to mention that NG is a popular place to upload games after Ludum Dares as well. The Newgrounds API allows for things like online scoreboards and badges. Not being able to take advantage of these features hurts the potential exposure for HTML5 games.

    Someone has done some of the work converting the API for HTML5 games. However, I do not know enough about Javascript to be able to work in the code from the API into my work.

    Can we get some plugins and/or export features for Newgrounds? I feel like it would really help step up C2's exposure on the site.

    They all default to Hashtag and move to the Hashtag twitter plugin

    I expected them all to be how I set them, I was originally trying to make a credits page and give everyone their own follow button

  • I think this might work, as I'm hoping to have several different layouts, so I am hesitant to make the logic to reliant on the level layout. I suppose I'll have to look more into how UID's work, unless there's a better way to go about assigning id's to sprites?

    PixelRebirth I'm not sure how I'd go about using matrices for this, but I do have some experience using them. Would I be able to use it with different level layouts?

  • I think I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure how I would go about implementing it.

    I had originally thought that I could try and have each tile detect whether or not there was a tile "behind" it relative to the direction it was traveling, but I can't figure out how I could get that to then affect every tile "ahead" of the tile that has been triggered as "stopped".

    Anybody have any thoughts on this?

  • Hey all,

    I am making a puzzle game wherein pieces are moving through a grid maze and the player eliminates them by selecting them when they have aligned. Pieces are constantly being added to the grid "pushing" the pieces in front of them forward. Therefore, if you have eliminated some pieces in the middle of the grid, pieces "further down the line" shouldn't move until the empty grid spaces have been filled. Unfortunately, I don't know a way to implement this, short of trying some sort of physics situation (which I feel might over complicate the matter). Does anyone know of a simple way to do this?
