• Match Your Bonbons — Now for sale in the Scirra Store!

    https://www.scirra.com/store/royalty-free-game-templates/match-your-bonbons-405

1. Welcome to Match your Bonbons, a Match 3 Construct 2 template. There are plenty of comments in this template that should help ease your understanding of what's happening.

2. The rules of Match your Bonbons is similar to what you might find in the The Treasures of Montezuma series - great Match 3 games from Alawar Games.

3. Most of what you might find in a Match 3 game is implemented here including:

a. Continuous matching until no matches are found based on sprites that use the Platform and Solid behaviors. The game alternates between matching, destroying matched tiles, and replenishing of missing tiles until a steady state is reached.

b. The game allows for matching of 3, 4, or 5 tiles, although there are no special bonus features implemented.

c. A scoring system is in place in the game.

d. You can see for yourself how many matches remain while playing the game. This feature is dependent on a standalone matching function that makes use of arrays.

e. A reset button is enabled when there are no matches left.

4. As an exercise in understanding the template, you may want to to implement the following features:

a. Prevent swapping from taking place when no valid match is found. (Hint: See the function found at line 164).

b. Provide a hint to the next match. (see above hint).

c. Implement bonuses, music, and more.

5. If you have any burning queries, send us an email at the contact below.

Most of all, have fun with this template and share with us your creations pn the Store forums!

PS - Artwork courtesy of "luminae" at Open Game Art.

Ref URL - opengameart.org/content/candy-pack-1%3C/p%3E

  • There is actually some response, but just not that evident.

Since you are implementing your own Drift mechanics, why not try eliminating the in-built Drift controls by setting Drift Recovery for the Car behavior to 360.

  • Hi,

In sync with the opening of Scirra's new store, I have also created a store at GamesWarp Studio more or less mirroring our products being sold here.

For those who are interested, please head here to read all about it.

If you are interested having your asset published on our website, you can always PM me.

    Thanks,

  • Nurture or Neglect? — Now for sale in the Scirra Store!

    https://www.scirra.com/store/games-with-source/nurture-or-neglect-71

"Nurture or Neglect?" places you in the role of GOD as you take to looking after or destroying GLOBS cute little round blue beings whose role in life is only to blink (and to reproduce, of course). You cannot directly manipulate Globs, but you can shift the green-coloured earth that they walk upon.

The objective of the game is to use your mouse and drag the green tiles from under your Globs so that they can meet somewhere in their small confined game world of Globbledygook. Placing a green tile atop another gives you food, while placing another green tile atop food gives you a useful ladder.

"Nurture or Neglect?" comes with two simple game modes: Nurture asks that you grow a colony of 200 globs and Neglect asks that you destroy a colony of 200 globs.

No more mysteries for first time developers... you get to see how things are done with "Nurture or Neglect?". With copious comments in the source code to guide you along the way, why not invest in a copy today?

  • Trial of Taijitu — Now for sale in the Scirra Store!

    https://www.scirra.com/store/games-with-source/trial-of-taijitu-133

Ever wondered how to implement an AI that thinks ahead just like in a chess game? In the Trial of Taijitu, you will be playing against an AI that regulates itself according to your skill.

The Trial of Taijitu is played on a field of 7 discs revolving around the symbol of duality. You control 3 alternate discs while the AI controls the other 3; the final disc closest to the centre spins on its own accord.

The object of the game is to spin the discs so that 3 or more gems match up on your side of the play area. You have 3 minutes to beat the AI and don't think that this will be an easy task...

Can you win the Trial of Taijitu?

Well, if you can't beat the game, you can always take a look at the source code to see how it's all done. And perhaps tweak the AI further to make it near undefeatable. Or relish looking at how "circular buffers" can be implemented in Construct 2.

In Geomorphic Gauntlet, you must avoid enemies at all costs.

e. Directional waypoint indicator points to the next nearest generator.

f. Use M key to show enemy pathfinding obstacle map.

g. All done within 100 lines of code.

  • Annual remuneration of 40,000 - but is that in Euro, or are you talking about American Dollars? Are you handling VISA? Relocation?

    Hmm... what about working remotely?

  • Profit share, sure... but which platforms are you releasing your game on?

  • For those looking to see what's taking place under the hood, press "[" or "]" to assess hidden debug features.

The former key command allows you to see how frequently the AI will act, what the AI is doing, and the data that is being presented for match-3 checks. The latter key command allows you to view the contents of the circular buffers used to store the gems; they should correlate with the color of the gems.
