  • Julmust, thanks for the feedback.

Essentially, the goal is to one day pay out based on ad revenue, but this isn't feasible at launch. Additionally, the Scirra Arcade which is useful in its own right doesn't exactly court gamers who aren't involved with C2.

The goal is to create a showcase, a springboard for super small and new developers, not the next Kongregate. The final site will function like a blog, showing off new games, instantly playable from within the website.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Fellow C2 fans, I'd like to announce a little project I've been working on. I've worked on different HTML5 game projects with different developers, many have created truly awesome games with nowhere to showcase them.

    I want to change that.

I'm in the process of building a portal for indie HTML5 games (perhaps some support for flash and other common formats). I can't go into too much detail, but I will say this. We love indie developers, and we will host your game for free. If we grow, that's free exposure and hosting for C2 projects, something I've been wanting since I started with Construct.

    Any takers?

  • To add to what he said. Touch input is working through Andromo's wrapper.

  • Also, I've yet to try out CocoonJS, so I cannot make the comparison.

  • Haven't tested sound yet, and with another test I performed, there was some stuttering with sprites as the canvas scrolled. However, the game I used was not optimized for mobile, so it may improve.

  • Good news everyone! I let my curiosity hurt my financial standing and actually bought the year license. Loaded up a game file and it ran, not perfectly, but it actually ran, and the frame rate is better than phonegap. There is still a ton of tweaking and adjusting to do, and this will never look as nice as native HTML5 C2 games on Google Chrome, but for simple games, this may fit the bill.

  • That's my issue as well. If the performance was somehow better than phonegap, it may be worth it, but I have no way of testing.

When building an app they require an entire HTML5 archive zipped, so I assume this uses the stock browser and will unfortunately be sluggish.

  • Seriously good, seeing as their year membership is on sale, but there is one other thread here, an older one, where someone claimed to get it working, but the performance wasn't the best, this has me concerned.

  • Andromo is an easy to use "code free" Android app builder, which essentially has you choosing from simple pre-built templates from which you create applications.

One of these templates is a blank HTML5 canvas, and I'm wondering if anyone out there has tested performance with Andromo, I assume the experience is going to be similar to phonegap, but I hope I am wrong.

  • Thanks for the idea, on dropbox will my index file function like a normal phonegap app would? Or would it popup within an Android browser?

  • I've made a simple web app that requires the user to login to their facebook account. This works fine with browser tests, Facebook developers asks what the URL is of the web app, and I specify "Localhost:5000" it works perfectly.

I've wrapped it with phonegap, to make it run like a standard android app, and when I try to test on my phone, I change the web app's URL at facebook developers to "http://index.html" thinking it would work the same way, but it doesn't. Is there a more accurate way to describe my web apps index page to facebook?

  • Has anyone had any luck using phonegap build with release 91? My application is simple and phonegap build handles it just fine, is there a known bug in r91? I'm testing on Android, and can't get the app to boot any more.
