  • I would re import everything. Did you make a project folder for all your stuff? If not then i think your computer doesn't have reference to the files it needs. That's my 2 cents.

  • wow this is great. I love the drawings. They convey what i saw in that street fighter tutorial. My character actually can turn small coincidentally. He also can become a magnet and stick to walls. And he can duplicate himself. I should start drawing those type of illustrations to figure out what would work best.

    Thanks for the help.

  • awesome. You are a wealth of knowledge CyberDagger. That street fighter tutorial was amazing. Im gonna play Megaman 8 too see how the bosses work.

All i want my first boss to do is maybe a ground stomp, throwing a projectile and maybe throw a ground projectile. This should be interesting XD.

  • Boss Design, How far can one take it?

For some reason creating a boss feels foreign. Maybe its because i have never did it before. Like where would one start. Creating a fake AI system would work i guess. I would have to now venture into For loops and advanced sequences. I gotta start somewhere XD.

Has anyone made a game with a boss in it. I would like to play it to see what can be done.

  • Great tutorial.

As far as art it shouldn't dictate the game play unless its Bastion lol. Get the game mechanics going then plan the art around your skills. If you can only draw stick figures, make the best stick figures.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Did you try custom movement? You can pretty much move anyway you want with custom movement.

  • If you want an object to shrink over time you can add invisible hit boxes. Import a box and set it to invisible. Import about 4-5 of them. Each time to CB passes over it(on collision) change its Height and width.

To stick the cigarette butt to the board you can spawn a new cigarette butt when the flying butt is on collision with the board. and just destroy the old butt.

  • I somewhat disagree. Super simplicity can be as useful as one likes. The only restrictions one has is in his/her mind.

  • i rather not call myself stupid XD. Don't wanna speak that into my life. Keep it super simple is more creative imo.

  • Tokinsom i see what you mean. Story truly is important. The first game i made was built on a story board. But the game play was too simple. My second game has good mechanics but no story. There needs to be a middle point for both i think. My solution for my second game will just be a short text intro in the beginning describing the situation. Then fade to black. Constructs 10 megabyte rule has kinda stunted the growth of my games. Then again it also helped me plan and work more effectively.

Sqidster i also try to work around the artsy part of game design. I figured if i can make a game fun i can skimp on art. But just a little. I would have to channel all the knowledge i have to make the best art i possibly can. In the game im working on i used 3D techniques mixed with simple 2D box art. For my third game i will try and make an art style that is simple yet unique.

  • that's awesome dude. It feels good when you can actually make what your thinking XD.

  • sounds cool man. can't wait to see it.
