• Dude, this game is absolutely amazing! I didn't play that much Mario back in the day, but I'm familiar enough with it to say that this isn't a straight up copy - more of an inspiration. Great to see what can be done with C2 - it's something for many of us to aspire to :)

Just out of curiosity, how big is your capx now? Are there any issues with loading and stuff?

  • I remember seeing a sample capx floating around a few months back called "wheel of misfortune" or something. It used a physics object and the pointer as a joint I think.

  • Take a look under pathfinding -there are a couple of really good plugins available

  • Nice work Johnny, I'm definitely going to set some time over xmas to look at this!

  • Try Construct 3

  • Ashley - yeah it's definitely worth looking into. I'll do a bit of digging with some of the local MS guys.

  • Thanks thehen you're a legend - I can confirm this works perfectly for x64 and ARM! I haven't tried it on a x86 yet though, but just detecting ARM is great!

  • thehen, that would be so awesome, thanks! There are quite a few other Win8/C2 devs who would also love to get their hands on the plugin!

  • thehen - thanks for the tips, sounds like I'll have to do some extensive optimization. The app lab sounds awesome! Unfortunately no such facility in New Zealand :(

Hmm, I've been considering moving forward with separate versions of games for ARM and x86 devices - bit of a pain but probably necessary (unless I want to cater for the lowest common denominator, which in this case is probably too low).

  • Hmm that would explain it. It's a shame though - it would be in their best interests to support js games a bit better

  • Well this is totally weird - I just downloaded a full 3d game which has way more going on called hydro thunder and it runs really, really smooth like 30fps! So why are 2d games performing so poorly I wonder...

  • Yikes that's terrible! I wonder how other ARM devices with win 8 perform. Yeah I tried the game on a Samsung slate (x86)and it had similar 50+ fps.

  • Here are some comparative specs:

    ipad vs surface

I wouldn't have much clue as to where the slowness comes from on the surface - could be hardware, software, both, neither?

All I know is I cranked up my game expecting it to be at least as good as the ipad2 and got completely bummed out lol
