  • For some reason, on my Windows Pro 8, 64bit system, clicking on "Behaviors" does not make the behaviors window to show. All else seems to be functional.

Any projects, any type, window does not show, even in the sample projects.

I'll follow this post with a test in my Win 8 Pro 32bit laptop.

Not a bad game at all! Has nice graphics, and it's a cute little game. I'd just make the exit area a bit more obvious and would try to improve the menus.

  • I followed your steps and it didn't crash for me. Maybe a Win 8 or Win 8 driver issue ??

Could be, but considering it is Construct 2 itself that crashes, I don't think it is driver related.

Oops, you're right - should be fixed for the next build. (Some help links appear when you right click in that dialog.)

Indeed they do, but right clicking on an object itself is... I dunno, not frequent?

Either way, glad it is not one of those pesky "it only happens to me" things.

  • Using Windows 8 32 bit

    1 - Create two sprites

    2 - Add event

    3 - Sprite 1

4 - Is overlapping at offset

    5 - Press next

6 - At the top window "Objects with Expressions" , right click in any item

7 - Construct 2 immediately crashes without warning.

It happens always, though I cannot fathom why would anyone right click on an object in that window except me...

  • We still have another year for them to get their mind straight? Come on!

  • Ok, so using Construct's default "test bed", so to speak, is a good indicator on how Windows 8 Apps would behave.

    Good, good.

ARM for now is not interesting for me.

I'm so sad I can't take part on the compo... Oh well...

  • Hey, I'm wondering how the performance between HTML5/Win8 Apps compare? I don't have a developer account just yet, and in the mean time, I'm just testing my project in a browser, so to anyone that has a Win 8 license, how is performance testing the app through Construct 2 and the real Win 8 App?

I'd like to have a couple apps ready before handing out the money to Microsoft and publish, because I've upgraded to Windows 8 recently (and because of that I can't afford the Developer License), so I just use default tools.

Can anyone drop a few words?

  • 250 is an impossible price for any developer, anywhere. You'd be better off buying a development engine for each system, or buying something like GameMaker Studio with all the plugins and send Ludei on their way.

I'm not sure that is even an acceptable pricing, unless there would be an mighty impressive service behind.

  • Any venue is crappy at best to make money with the current state of HTML5. The market has to mature in order to accommodate the new business model of HTML5.

Using Play/Apple Store to make money is almost impossible.

Best method is using Awesomium (or compact your game in an exe wrapper and sell your game on your own or using a portal like Desura. Or trying to get a piece of Windows Store while it's fresh off the oven.

    Also: marketing. Lots of it.

  • And here we go again with the corporate nonsense. Why can't they just stick to a standard, call it definitive and leave it at that? Why even bother with shady implements (mp3 comes to mind) where other alternatives, free of hassle, exist?

I can't really understand these entities. Instead of making things easy, they seem to impede development, making stuff hard for the developers, that need to take care of different browsers and even the users, that just don't want/care to change browser because of a game.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I always found confusing saving capx and caproj, and end up saving the two.

It would be better to unify the saving mechanism, and have one to be "on demand", like making .caproj the default save and having a save capx for distribution when the user specifically needs it.

Or just leave it as it is. :D
