Howcome?
Very nice update! I'm excited to know what this "bigger" update will be!
Great year, great updates, great support! Thank you to all Scirra staff - hope you all take it easy over the Christmas holidays!!
Amazing, can't wait to test this on my effect-heavy project!!
What a blog post! Especially with recent news about gamemaker going to subscription.
Very well written, informative, and I look forward to reading future blog posts!
One thing to consider -
If you worked for years on a project and found a bottleneck with your event blocks, you have a possible option to try and implement javascript with any of the more cpu-heavy parts of your event blocks. Sure, most will think "uhh but I don't know javascript" BUT, you are not stuck at a dead-end, you could ask community members or post on the forums explaining what you're trying to do, and some javascript god might end up offering suggestions or a path to go down in order to achieve what you want.
It may be that not a lot of people will not utilise this, but if someone finds themselves needing to eek out some more performance somewhere for their huge complex multi-system RPG project, then it's amazing we have the option to go to the core and try to gain even more performance.
I agree completely with this! It's inspiring to read this blog post and I feel very competent with C3, but I do wish I could poke around with javascript directly in a C3 project, rather than need to learn javascript from the beginning and slowly try to understand how to migrate that knowledge over to C3's javascript blocks (I.E. I would be eager to first learn javascript fundamentals that are very common if you were trying to use scripting within C3, rather than learning absolutely everything about javascript).
I've seen that Scirra has filed issues on users behalf, which I think is great as sometimes a user may not know exactly how to poignantly word and demonstrate their issue - having Scirra step in can help get third-party devs and engineers to understand the issue quicker. Much appreciated for this!
10/10
Oh wow, it'd be so great to see updated touch features with event sheet view, even a toggleable way to "move" events rather than scrolling.
Its super awesome using c3 on mobile and is very intuitively designed, it just feels like this 1 hurdle within the event sheet view could turn mobile support from "just for some minor touch ups" to "being fully able to use the event sheet view".
One can wish!
Ah I appreciate the reply, thanks!
So, my logic was thinking this would be very easy to do, maybe 1-2 hours, just copy paste the bookmark image icon and change the hue, make sure c2 projects would default to the "red" bookmark when imported, add some tabs into the window or even a drop down window if it was easier (could be recycled from elsewhere in c3).
May I ask, what was the tricky part for this idea? Just to educate me so I don't underestimate in future!
I remember suggesting to add the minor suggestions section! I thought it had been taken very literally though, where a minor suggestion must take maybe 5 minutes or less to implement otherwise it will be treated like a regular suggestion.
I made a minor suggestion I had posted months ago:
It was to tweak the bookmark window for event sheets - to add some more bookmark colours and add tabs on the bookmark window to group. I explained many benefits to this suggestion, and included further ideas to expand on the suggestion but I only did this as little extras haha.
Man, I'm glad to be back around Scirra, it's so satisfying how frequent these updates are.
Many thanks Ashley!
Many thanks!
