Tbh it is pointless even discussing this, Ashley & Co are determined to run C3 off a cliffs edge and into oblivion, we've had our say, so now it's time to move on to other software and let C3 crash and burn.

Perhaps a few months down the line if subs are really bad, they'll rethink things, but until then no point going over it all tbh. just move on but keep one eye on the forums.

Well, I've just bought GMS2 (Game Maker Studio 2) and by FAR the main reason is that C3 is heading to sub only, GMS2 is one price buy it and own it.

So sadly, as much as I enjoyed Construct 2, I'm now moving platform.

(I hope a lot of people do the same, why? because then perhaps Scirra will see the light and give us a one off price ..at which point I may purchase it and return)

Take care all, bye (for now at least)

I bought and love Construct 2.

If C3 goes subscription then I will not buy it, the price simply does not matter, its the principle! I want to pay once and own the software to use when and how I like. I will never "subscribe" to any software even if its $1 a year.

Please stop this silly decision and let us buy it. even if its outside my current budget, I can save up and buy it in a month or 2 or 6 or whatever. Go subscription only and I will never buy it and will move to other software.

    Buy!

(I do not and will not ever "subscribe" to software, either you sell me a copy and I own it forever or I go elsewhere and use other software, your choice.)

  • Why is it important to only have a single file? What difference does it make if some other files are involved?

    Its twofold really.

1: yes its purely a personal thing and I want one single exe to run or to give to friends, thats just me and my requirements, its what I prefer.

2: this is the main one, running in a wrapper really hurts the performance, running native code is far faster and more efficient.

like I said, I love C2 and its UI is really damn perfect for me, heck if someone created an addon that exported native windows code I'd buy it, even if it was like £50

  • Good luck for your future projects. May I ask you that after a few weeks-months of ClickTeam Fusion, please come back and write your opinion about that engine compared to C2?

I would actually like to do that, I do hope the mods wouldn't see it as off topic or advertising another product but yeah its certainly an idea.

  • Hello all,

I've been using C2 for about 3-4 months now and I have to say I really do love it, mainly the UI, its a superb design and really easy to work with.

However, I am now moving to Clickteam's Fusion 2.5 but not because its better software, actully I find the fusion UI rather cluttered and confusing and not even close to how C2 is. Sadly the only reason I'm stopping using C2 is that I utterly loathe the fact I cannot export native windows code, I have no interest in android/ios or other platforms and the fact I cannot export to one *single* exe is a royal pain, using a wrapper is a pretty poor choice imo. I know to 99% of the C2 users its no big deal and thats good for them, however for me its really turned into a deal breaker and I'm now using fusion even though its not as easy to use as C2.

However, that said. Should C3 or a future Construct version actually export native code I would immediately buy it and move back, yes I like the UI that much.

until then, goodbye and take care all.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • As far as I know Fusion doesn't export as a single .exe file either. Am I wrong?

It does, I bought it when I saw the sale and for me (even though I don't plan on publishing/sharing my games) exporting to a single exe file is a big plus. I don't mean to knock C2 at all, its really awesome, but I have to admit I hated getting a folder full of junk and dll files when I did a build.

but you know, different people have different needs.

  • Thanks a lot, I've updated now and I'm running the latest version.

also thanks to everyone that helped, you're so kind.

  • Thanks a lot for all the help and kind comments!

Sadly I cannot load the file into my C2 as it says it was made with a later version. I would have thought mine would have updated to the new one too but I guess not.

Would it be asking too much for you to post a screengrab of the changes?

I guess in the meantime I need to contact Scirra and see why mine hasn't updated. thanks again!

  • Hi,

I've been banging my head against this for days but can't get it working, so I'm here asking for help ..again..

My game has you releasing balls into scoring zones and I want to trigger game over when:-

    a: your remaining balls = 0

    and

b: all the balls have stopped moving.

I cannot seem to get it to work, either my game over text never triggers or it triggers too early.

Here is my capx. (remove the spaces in the url)

  • Freemium is toxic to me, I now totally refuse to play freemium crap.

I'd rather pay £1, £5, £10, £20+ and "own" the game, rather than download it free and pay forever for iap's and consumable crap. I just totally avoid anything thats freemium or f2p.

I have to also say that wading through the app store to find a good game is a nightmare right now, you search for any type of game and instantly you've 30 pages of freemium junk to wade through before you find anything good.

Apple should add a filter to filter out free games from a search.

I much preferred ios gaming 2-3 years back, when games came in two versions. The full game and a "light" demo. you could download the light version free and play for a little while and see if you'd like to buy the full game. that was ideal to me. I could try out loads of games and buy the ones I really liked.

Now the app store is ruined by junk like candy crush, clash of clans etc. pure dross
