  • LittleStain Thank you! I'll give it a go. I'm pretty bad at understanding what events to set up etc, so I appreciate the input. :)

  • I'm trying to do a small cutscene-esque sort of scene, where once the player hits an invisible block I've set they automatically move for a little bit. I want them to walk forward, jump up onto a ledge, and then toss something down the ledge they just jumped upon. Then once they've completed that I want it to go back to normal playing controls. I'm not sure how to make it so they do that automatically with no player input; any advice?

  • I'm trying to create a follow mechanic in which I've gotten the NPC companion (in my case it's going to be a wolf) to successfully follow my player, but they stop right in the middle of the player sprite and then wobble around. Here's the capx file - drive.google.com/file/d/0B9lZS2FUhbrQSzZydHRhSTNQUEE/view?usp=sharing (just copy and paste and it should open up fine, hopefully!)

I want it like how following someone would normally go; you're a little distance behind them, not right on top of them. I'm not sure how to fix it since I'm still pretty new with construct. u_u I used another forum example that was a similar follow-mechanic question as guidance for it, but I'm not sure what I did wrong in the event system to make it not do what the example did. I appreciate any help/advice given! It's probably an easy fix but I'm hopeless haha

  • Hey! I'm collectively known as Rem by many of my close friends. I'm a 16 year old who has a few hobbies and wastes a lot of time (because I'm a major procrastinator haha.. woops). Some of my interests are drawing, playing games, watching anime/reading manga and watching my favourite Lets Players on youtube (plus editing my own AMVs etc for youtube). I also really love sleeping. And having free time to procrastinate. I equally love animals and my two cats are like my own metaphorical children (even though I don't really like actual children that much).

I found out about construct very recently, and it was via my college course; I'm doing Games Design and they've chosen to let us take a crack at Construct for 2D work. Pretty much only known about the program for a week and a bit. I'm practically a huge rookie to making games on my own, as I only ever used RPG Maker when I was tiny and even then never managed to finish a full game - but I'm hoping this will be a fun experience as I'm using different softwares for different game types throughout my course. So far Construct seems relatively easy to use, but me being a dimwit and a rookie on top of that, I still manage to get myself confused about a lot of the functions of the program - so I'm glad there's a forum we're able to post to and ask for help (I'm equally glad everyone seems rather friendly and willing to help)!

I've been intrigued by game making for a while because I enjoy playing games myself, and have done for majority of my life, which is what inevitably brought me to picking a Games Design course above others. Well, that and the fact I really like art and drawing, so I was looking forward to stuff like concept art and expanding my artistic horizons a bit more. I enjoy the art side of it the most, but making the actual structure of a game has always been something I've been vaguely interested in since I love actually playing the things so much.

I probably won't upload many games, if any at all, due to the fact I often drop projects part way through. I also tend to just not upload things like this in general and keep them for personal use. Other than occasional forum activity I doubt you'll see much else from me, though. OTL"

If it wasn't obvious by now, I like to type a lot and tend to have rather lengthy responses when prompted with stuff like this that could have a lot written about it! However I hope I can find out some new fun things whilst using Construct off and on for my course, and I wish everyone else luck on their game-making journeys as well. :)

  • Nimtrix, sorry to bring up an old question! but I was trying to create a follow mechanic and ended up having the same issue shifty was having where the object following the player goes to the middle of them and wobbles, and I wasn't sure how to fix it. I'm not sure if I have a wrong event set-up like Shifty did or not (I couldn't check since their link doesn't work anymore), but I don't think I put in the events wrong (at least from what I can see haha). I might be doing the same thing where I need a fresh pair of eyes, though..

I can't post an url so sadly I can't give you the capx file, but I could take a screenshot or something probably or split up an url link.

  • Majinboo ty! I'll be sure to check them out asap, from the brief look of them they look like what I'm after, so hopefully they'll work :)

  • Hey! I'm new to Construct 2 so I'm not sure how to do much in it at the moment. I want to know if it's possible to have a companion that follows you (in my case it's going to be an animal), but can also interact with the environment? They wouldn't be a playable character, but they're constantly with you and you would need them to help you complete certain actions. I'd also want possible interactions between them and the player to be possible (for example perhaps commands and/or just idle dialogue), but I don't know how you would do any of this. I know there was something in the FAQ about followers but there was nothing (that I saw) about companions that do more than just follow you.

I was also interested in making some sort of relationship mechanic where you could improve your friendship upon certain acts between each other, but this part isn't as important. It would just be a cool feature to add if possible - I'm more interested in learning the answer to my first question, though. This is gonna be for a project I'm doing, so any info is really appreciated!
