  • Thanks for the heads-up,

But it's definitely not competing in the same arena as C2, with its requirement for raw JavaScript (not Java Astrosus) programming skills.

    Scirra can breath easy.

  • ...You could also make your own 'debugger messages' by putting a text object on a layer and appending the text via an action.

Yes, I typically add a 'DEBUGText' Text object and output to it what state messages I need. Not exactly a debugger, but usually quite adequate.

... messages for every single thing that happens would be unusable past anything but the simplest of games.

    Agreed.

And see this article: Debuggers are for Losers. To quote: "... most of the time the debugger is not the best tool to find and remove defects."

  • I'm a huge fan of Construct 2 ... I have been so influenced by Construct 2 ...

Can you spell out for us exactly how you've been influenced by Construct 2? From what I can glean from your videos, you seem to use traditional scripting rather than the higher level design/development paradigm of C2.

Thanks for the heads-up! I got the Node Cookbook, too. ?34 worth for only ?6 !

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

You can download/link to an uncompressed/non-minified version of jQuery here.

  • is there a way and documentation how to use the SDK without the construct2 builder.

    robkuz

    Short answer, no.

I think you misunderstand what the C2 SDK is. It's intended to make plugins to expand the C2 engine's functionality. I think you might imagine it as a set of APIs to give you access to the C2 engine and allow you to code your game entirely in JavaScript. The SDK is not that.

Take rexrainbow's advice. Look for another game engine which offers a set of APIs for you to build your own game by direct coding in a 3G programming language.

  • Just my two cents.

No, no, much much more than two cents' worth!

Fimbul has given you absolutely brilliant advice. Following it will set you on the path to success (no guarantees that you'll get to your goal, though!), while not using it to make your roadmap will see you lost, wandering and distressed, in the wilderness of Unfinished Projects.

Have you got Scott Rogers' Level Up! ? That will give you more detailed practical guidance on each of Fimbul's points. See, for example, his 'Level 4: You can design a game, but can you do the paperwork?.

    Best wishes!

  • What a marvellous Christmas present! (7:30 am Christmas morning here in New Zealand). Thanks HUGELY for another great competition, folks of Scirra! And a very happy Christmas to you, too!

  • Why would google penalize you if the content is there?

  • Hmm... I think removing jQuery could cause more problems than it solves for the time being, so I think I'll postpone this for the forseeable future...

    Thanks, ASHLEY. I'm not unhappy with your decision. <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle">

Maybe in the future you could consider replacing jQuery with VanillaJS.

As someone who answered one of your questions (and was thanked for it - thank you!), I'm surprised that you say you "made several questions in that forum that went unanswered". I've checked through your posts, and found that you got helpful answers to your questions.

    Which ones went unanswered?
