  • I would prefer to have a specific theme to follow (it'd help me know what to do instead of being paralyzed not knowing what to do), and have the games divided into sub-categories. Makes better organization sense, and would allow for more winners. :)

  • Nevermind. I still have this problem, but I thought of a different direction I want to take this game, so I'm going to try that instead.

    Thanks anyway.

  • Alright, so I'm already stuck (lol). I'm trying to make a tycoon game somewhat like Shopping Street (http://www.flonga.com/play/shopping-street.htm), or Amuse Park (http://www.freewebarcade.com/game/amuse-park/).

One of the elements I'm trying to emulate is getting the customer to stop and "vanish" for a short while when they overlap with the game shelf. For some reason though, the customer simply goes behind the game shelf, and nothing happens.

    Here's the .capx file: http://www.mediafire.com/?f3lktskd552c01b

    Thanks for your help.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Thank you Lucid and Ashley for your responses, I appreciate it. :)

  • Goodwill - they will help find employment and train you in new skills to land a job. And focus on employment before you sit down and stress about building a Tycoon game. IMO

Actually, I still live with my parents, so it's not so much of an issue. Plus I already have assistance in finding employment and getting training. In fact, I start college next year. In the meantime though, I have nothing to do with my time.

  • I have this neat idea for a Tycoon theme. But lately life has been really hard for me (been unemployed since last December, haven't been able to find work since then, and have $2 in my bank account, so I can't even get the full license to Construct 2 yet).

It seems overwhelming to me. I don't know how to motivate myself to get started, or how to just break the process down into small, doable tasks. I'm still new to game development, never published a game before.

    Really could use your advise.

    Thanks.

  • Ashley mentioned he's working on a tutorial for making a platformer game. Should be out soon, I hope.

  • I found another site dedicated to HTML5 games:

    http://html5-games.org/contact.php?subject=Submit%20a%20Game

  • What's a point and click game, exactly? I think I might know but I just want to make sure.

  • HTML5games.com might also be interested, and then there's a whole slew of standard indie gaming sites you can try to get noticed on - they're not specific to HTML5 but you can still give them a go - IndieGames.com, TIGSource, PixelProspector, etc. I might add some of these to the tutorial actually.

Thanks for those sites, that's a great place to start on.

To be honest, I was actually hoping you'd be mentioning sites like this in your tutorial.

Might I suggest writing a separate tutorial for tips on how to promote your game, and including those sites in that tutorial?

    Thanks again.

  • Hey Ashley, I saw your tutorial, it was very good. I should have used different wording, I meant to ask, what sites are there that we can use to promote our HTML5 games on?

Facebook and the Chrome store are options obviously, but I was wondering what other options were available.

    Thanks for your responses.

  • I know there are flash game portals like playfish and kongregate, but are there any places where you can submit/embed an HTML5 game?
