  • Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to share that I'm helping launch a game jam for the site HighScoreWinsMoney.com

    Here is the Jam

    https://itch.io/jam/high-score-wins-money-jam

    Here are the details

HighScoreWinsMoney.com is a website that supports indie game devs and also pays out cash prizes to players daily.

You can read about what we are up to here.

    https://www.laptopmag.com/news/high-score-win-money-gives-new-game-developers-and-gamers-a-shot-at-winning-cash

Since we've launched we've got a lot of people asking to make games for the site so we decided for our next one it will be decided via a game jam!

The only constraint to the jam is that it must be built in Construct 3, other than that you can do whatever you want!

    Details

Upload your submission and send us a playable link and the team at High Score Wins Money will select the winner. The chosen winner will receive $500 and then have two weeks to polish and work with the High Score Wins Money team to prep it for launch. Once it's live on the website you will receive the other $500 and it will be featured on the front page of HighScoreWinsMoney.com for a month.

The winner will have to submit the Construct 3 project files to send to our team to integrate with our high score system on the site.

    Ownership

All submissions are 100% owned by you the developer. If you want to build it out into a larger game or anything else later that's totally up to you. The only thing we require is the license to use your game on HighScoreWinsMoney.com for the agreed-upon time period.

What Kind of Game Should I Make?

It's really up to you but here are a few things we tend to look for specifically for HighScoreWinsMoney.com.

Pick up and play - Try to make the mechanics feel natural so there isn't a big need for instructions

Score focused - Whoever gets the high score wins the daily prize so you might want to consider having scores with lots of variations (for example not just going up increments of 1).

Mobile and desktop controls - Our players tend to play on both mobile devices and PC's. It's worth considering keeping the controls simple enough that it easily worked on both devices.

Replayability - Players on our site tend to stay a while and compete for high scores so considering little things like making it easy to start the game without a long intro screen or having skippable tutorials is always helpful.

  • Here's what I'm looking do to, I've been working on this for a while now and haven't found anything that worked just yet so I thought I'd see if anyone has any suggestions.

Player one logs in, and basically nothing needs to happen on their end, they don't need to control anything just be able to see what player two sees.

Player two logs in, this spawns 4 objects each with a drag and drop behavior. Now based on where player two drags these objects they player 1 will be able to see them as they are placed. I can successfully do this with one object but I'm not sure how to do it with multiple objects so if you have any suggestions I would truly appreciate it.

    Thanks!

p.s. if you have a capx that's extra helpful too

  • I've been trying to figure this out the past couple days and I just thought to check here thanks so much for the demo file, this makes so much more sense now!

  • that's ok!

  • If so I would love to meet some fellow Construct fans! I designed a game that will be featured at booth 965(Near the Capcom booth) my game is called Soda Drinker Pro, I didn't use Construct 2 to make it(But I do use Construct 2 it to make all sorts of other stuff). You can play my game here too if you'd like. Soda Drinker Pro

If anyone is going to Pax East too make sure to say hi!

  • Thanks for checking it out!!

  • Just thought I'd share this if you want to check it out, it's a game I made for the 48 hour Global Game Jam this weekend. I'd love to hear what you think!

  • Hi Everyone,

I just thought I'd share a game I made for a 12 hour hackathon contest last night, everything was created over that time period(I'm pretty tired because that was last night)

It's a two player simultaneous/co-operative game where you need to help eachother to survive. You need to stay close to eachother during the game as well or you will run out of air and die(the screen will go dark when this happens).

It's still in the very early stages but I would love to get anyone's thoughts on it because I think I'm going to keep on working on it until it's done. So if anyone has any suggestions or comments I would love to hear what you think!

    Thanks!

    Here's the game

    here's the original article too

  • I used the program reason and a midi controller, I think I'm going to be changing the music quite a bit though

  • Yup I'm using C2repo too, that's the thing that seems to be causing the error.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks! I'm re-working tons of aspects of it and adding a lot of levels. the biggest problem at the moment is re-sizing a lot of the files, when I originally made it I used gigantic image files, that's the main reason it loads so slow. But I should have more updates on it soon. Thanks for checking it out!
