  • We can get the time in ticks or seconds since the game began but would it be possible to get the system time itself?

I realize it can be done with a plugin but I was hoping this might be something that could be incorporated in the core, assuming others are interested too.

  • Brilliant work, from the graphics, sound and music all the way to the game design. Excellent way to promote your project, hope that all goes well for ya!

  • Good topic, I think it would depend on wide spread adoption of HTML 5 and if that happens all the big companies will be somewhat forced to support it.

Crazy thing though, it's already had great support from Google (that Pac-man game with their logo was a great example) and Apple (iOS devices). So early in the game, it's got some heavy weight behind it.

I think it's just a matter of time.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Ah, very useful, thanks for that one guys! Can't believe I didn't even think of that or notice the distance() function. I was wondering how to get an object nearest another object and this seems to be the way. :)

  • I totally agree, and honestly, I think like the early days of Flash, web developers will see the great utility in tools such as Construct and use it for web development projects.

The thing is though, I don't think any focus needs to be taken off of gaming. Rather, web developers seeking to achieve videogame type effects can simply use those tools already being made available for Construct.

  • zenox98 awesome! I love these simple games that still have substance to them and I always loved that old game!

I thought that's what the density parameter was, no?

  • Ha, very nice! I was actually wondering when folks were going to start creating sites with Construct.

Frankly, I think one of the strong points behind Construct is its name, because it doesn't imply gaming in and of itself.

I think web developers will easily take this up and start creating sites (portions of sites in my case) if they think it's not distinctly for games.

  • Thanks for that clarification Arima. I did think that was a format, a sprite based one. Glad to see that type of thin is possible, just sounds like quite a bit of work to use text in that case!

  • Hiya sqiddster,

To use a Google Font, you can simply download and install the font on your computer, then when exporting the file, just be sure to include the added bit of information that Google gives you for your <header> section.

I'm not totally sure, but I wouldn't think spritefonts would help in this case, as Construct would still have to be able to utilize that format somehow.

  • I use Google Web Fonts myself. As far as I see, they'll be the web font standard soon enough.

They've already got over 200+ fonts and they're freely usable and downloadable.

  • Physics is in the new release, so on to Families I'm guessing!

Seriously, stuff moves quickly over here. I'm studying the plugin SDK myself too, hope to have some extra things to add here soon enough!

  • Yeah, serious congratulations on that! Really looking forward to seeing all the great things in store (judging by all the activity here, I'm sure there will be many more great things)!
