  • AFAIK the latest official Greenworks plugin is working OK. Is it just a case of missing features, or bugs, or what? For example the existing Greenworks plugin can already activate achievements, so how come you mentioned that? And if you just say "it's a mess", there's not a lot I can do about that, but if you make a list of five bugs for example, I can work my way through fixing them. Vague posts like this just leave me wondering if you've actually tried it lately?

No I haven't, and this is why I wrote that I haven't published anything on Steam yet. My post was based on the posts I read in the Greenworks plugin's topic in the past few years. There were issues, and a lot of the developers were complaining. As far as I know the plugin was broken for a long time with the newer NW.js versions so that's why I called it a mess. If it works today, than please accept my apologies, and I meant no offence. Having a Steam plugin included in the editor is vital and it leaves a better feeling in the users than having to download it separately from the forums in my opinion. If I do manage to get a game on Steam and if I run into any problems, you can be sure that I'll post bug reports. After all, I also want C2/C3 to be one of the best engines that support Steam.

  • It is updated just as the standalone version. I think it's Steam what causes some problems there.

  • That's promising indeed. I think Ashley is aware of Instant Games, and I hope we can expect support for those as well.

  • Since you own a C2 license, you'll get 50% discount of your first year of C3.

I don't think that making multiplayer games will ever be easy. Unless you use a cookie-cutter engine and severely limiting your possibilities at the same time.

  • I don't think Scirra could afford to miss supporting Steam. In C2 it was a mess. While I haven't published anything on Steam yet, I read enough comments on the topic to get the picture. MadSpy's plugins were a godsend to many. But supporting a platform that big and vital officially is a must have functionality in my opinion.

  • It's good to know that there isn't any legal issues with the current method. However, I agree with skymen . An encryption would be useful, even if it's that simple as XOR.

  • It depends on how well you can optimize your game. If you have 100 minigames on 100 different layouts then I don't think there will be any problems. Just make sure you test often (even with APKs).

  • I don't think that we should ignore a market that big (even if we compare it to Android).

  • Buy C2 from the Scirra store directly. I usually read complaints about the Steam version, while the one you download from the official site works just fine.

  • That's good news. However I think you should fire a bug report about this issue.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • When you uninstalled the Steam version of C2, did you clean up any possible folders it left behind before reinstalling?

A good question to ask is - will construct3 editor be able to export to html5 without using any network service, and allow the user to wrap the game with xdk/cacoon the same way construct2 does?

Yes, they confirmed it in the blog posts that they'll keep the export options for using 3rd party wrappers.
