  • yeah sure <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile"> i'll put some files when i'll have something interesting.

Actually I try to make a 2D plateformer, but with 3D lighting.

basically the player have a torchlight, and can light the background with the mouse.

So i need to simulate/fake a Z axis to modify the lightdir, Z, falloff, intensity, etc... to fake the 3D lighting deformation.

    something like this :

for the screen, my idea was to create an event to set every tick the 2 effect parameters to screenX & Y resolution to WindowWidth and WindowHeight, that should also ajust the effect if you modify the browser windows size.

    (i'll try this...)

for the other param, i search for the same thing (color picker, vector, etc...) instead of "float" or "percent", but didn't find anything... I don't know what other param type can be created in the xml file...

Maybe the solution is to use a "text" field, and parse the text to create vector or other... I don't know if this could work...

Last point, i wander why you didn't create variable for the lightdir ? cause i need it.

I'll try to add this to your shader...

  • arg, need r209

  • LOL !

I spend all the day to try to make the exact same shader based on the same site !

    Thx !!

  • nice !

i'll give a try to the plugin this afternoon.

    Thx !

  • Thx !! I was looking for this too !!

  • Hi ,

just wander why you limit to 4 Actions and 2 SingleActions ?

I thought we can create as many global number and global text as we need, and send our customized actionstring to the game...

"Send Actions To" : nice !

  • Look at the source code :

    .....

    <head>

    <style>

    </style>

    <meta http-equiv="........

seems no CSS or styles defined...

    Hi,

I just try it, so I also asked myself this question but I think nodejs can be run with a .bat easily.

The question is more how to get user IP and modify the game to host the game on this IP and send it to the player (maybe via a QR Code). Also how to easily force windows firewall to open the needed port...

By now, you need to do this yourself, (modifying the capx file) so, on a standalone version, this need to be automatic and completly invisible for user.

I also wander, for a web hosted game, what kind of ping we can have with nodejs? with wifi connection and with 3GS... I don't know if this can be reactive enough for a platformer or a shooter game...

Some idea : In this version, the first device connected show the game screen, any other device connected after will be controllers. I wander if it's possible to add a button on the controller to switch to game view. So we can have several game screen and several controller, playing the same game.

Exemple1 : I play with 2 friends on my PC in my living room, and 3 others friends play in another room on another computer (like Team1 vs Team2)

Another idea would be to create different game view and different controllers.

Exemple2 : on a RolePlay game, 1 player is Master and have a specific controller (maybe specific game screen too), the other players play on a different screen (on another computer) with different controllers (maybe each player would have a specific controller with specific info, characters sheets, inventory, etc...)

That could be really fun ! The Master may modify the map in realtime, add PNJ, items, etc...

And each player may have his own character sheets, stats, inventory, secret objectives, etc.. maybe a chat between players to send secret message or exchange items...

Sorry to ask so many questions But I really think it has a great potential, cause many "traditionnal" board game or roleplay game can be "digitalized" using this concept.

    Thanks for reading

  • Thanks! I just try it and it works fine! I was also able to play on my connected TV! (but the browser is shit and it was very laggy...)

BTW, hope I'll have some time this weekend to dig more to see how it works and experiment some ideas!

    Great work!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Sure, no problem!

    Thx!

    Can't wait to test it!

  • Hi,

I worked in videogame industry for few years now (as Creative Director and Game Designer).

A project using this concept was developped few years ago, using AS3, Orbit and Minko 3D engine.

(you can still test it on http://themirage.fr/)

I'm still surprised that so few company developped project like this!

I think this is the futur! Most people have smartphone today, most of them have a computer, and now Connected TV is the new standard. So if we can create great game people can easily play with friends, using their mobile... Waow!

No more need to have a console or gamer computer ! A simple web browser and a mobile, and let's go !

So beside my job, I started to work on a game design based on this new way to play. Actually it's based on differents boardgames and Roleplay game (like "Earth Reborn" which is sooooo coool, but sooooo long to play in real life !!!).

I really think that this kind of game should be the best project to prototype :

    • First, you don't need realtime interactions (like in a plateformer or a FPS), cause you are very dependant to your internet and wifi connexion, device quality and possibility, number of players...
    • Second, this kind of game offer a real interest in using multiple screens! I mean create a SNES controller on a mobile is really not creative! You have to look beyond traditionnal video game !

Imagine each player having on his mobile or tablet his character Sheet, inventory, secret information, he can program many actions, interact with the game just by finger draging an objet from his mobile toward the screen, etc...) Be creative !

    • Third : these games don't need 3D Engine with highpoly 3D environment running at 60 fps !

2D Artwork and smooth animation is great enough ! And 2D games can run on most browsers !

So your game can be played by more people !

Well... I'm still working on my GDD but I allready have most of the core gameplay design, game mecanisms, UI drafts, etc... For the last few weeks I was looking for differents technical solutions to prototype it, like using WebRTC or Orbit to link the game and the differents device... (I also like in themirage.fr the simple idea of using a QRCode to add a new player! Fast and easy!)

So, I would be VERY VERY interesting in testing your solution !!!! Hope you can add me to your tester list !

    Thx
