very nice...i got stuck at level 6...lol.

good luck with the editor improvements.

Burvey is correct that a drag and drop type editor scheme would greatly benefit your project. i do not know how difficult it would be from the layout perspective.

once you have dealt with the technical problems and can show some better asset art, i think people will really see how cool this can be. especially when really talented artist/designers get a hold of it.

this should help with the ideas department...

also, the new tables look great. i did not realize how much better the play experience would be with better graphics.

    nice.

are you going to support flat/overhead tables as well unique table shapes?

this gave me the same rush of fun as when i saw the 'outrun' sandbox on c2.

Thanks Harrio- I am finally getting to the fun stuff. Still a little tweaking needed on flipper control but I will get it yet.

Just collecting assets for a bowling and golf playfield today and working on those tomorrow. Lots of ideas running through my brain lol!

just imagine the exponential amount of ideas that will run through the heads of those that get a hold of this tool.

even jobs admitted that the iphone became far more than they could have foreseen.

with maturity and community based input, this could become a genre unto itself.

you have hit the tip of the proverbial pinball iceberg.

once completed, this sandbox could grab the attention of not only pinballers but those who did not know they were pinballers until this came along. sharing custom boards and assests is something that could definitely build a community.

good luck...as nick fury would say...i've got my eye on you.

    excellent work sir...please continue.

    > You are certainly onto something big here. Yes, there is plenty work to be done to get some things right but very commendable efforts. I have tried the editor and I like the direction the project is taking. This is an excellent project. Don't stop!

Thanks- I am excited about this project and see some real potential. I am amazed at how many websites and forums are dedicated to Pinball both traditional and video and there are lots of people that I think would like this sandbox creator. Not hard to learn and you can design your own game playfield in a few minutes or create your own assets for hardcore game designers.

I am designing ramps and chutes today which will really add to the affect.

    congrats lamar

i believe last year some time ago. i made a comment in the forum that a good pinball template would be a gold mine for 2d game devs and artists. i think pinball has as much room for expression, mood and artistic interpretation as platformers. especially when unique elements to digital pinball are incorporated.

the ball is still passing through the flipper sometimes. but i agree with the others that it feels much more stable and realistic. i am sure you will find a way to work out the physics kinks. i also got a ball to get stuck right in the center of the red 'deadball' circle. it would not exit the board and give me another ball. so i used the plunger control. which should have been turned off...lol.

    really looking good.

i have not played with the editor yet, but that is going to be the bread and butter of this project.

  • The perspective is just a visual thing. All objects are actually flat so it will work for any table angle or perspective,

i thought that was the case. i just wanted to make sure.

    coolbeanz.

also, i cannot get the newest build 13990 to come up on the arcade. only the older build 13984 works.

cannot wait to see the extra things you come up with.

i have had a few pinball designs that i wanted to do for fun. this just might get me there.

  • wow,

i commented before i actually played the demo.

    it is great.

i did not know you were using horizon perspective layout instead of top down.

will the physics still work accurately with a top down table design? some designers prefer that angle. but it would be great if your template supported both.

also, you should turn off the plunger once the ball has entered play on the table. i found out that i could use the plunger button while the ball was in play. which kept it from ever going down the side traps...lol.

  • lamar thank you for this.

it can help many people who love the challenge of designing good 2d pinball game layouts to concentrate on the layout / graphics and not be bogged down with what you are tackling here.

    well done.
