  • I've enjoyed many, many indie games. Some of my favourites include Lyle In Cube Sector, Alex Adventure, 8-bit Killer, Every Extend and lots of other obscure stuff.

  • Thanks for all the positive feedback. Means a lot to me.

Re: the graphics stuff.. a lot of these developers are very much inspired by games of the retro eras of the '80s and '90s, so there is a lot of focus on pixel art. I have to admit.. I have a deep love of pixel art myself but I can understand that some people get a little tired of that style or think it's just the 'in thing' at the moment.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • The Last and Final Word is a series I decided to start around a year ago with one interview a week with various independent videogame developers. 50 in total.

I decided to package them up with a neat little bow tie..

Here is the page with the interviews.

Here are the words of intent.

  • Thanks for the positive feedback. I usually do one interview per week with occasional quotes from other sources inbetween when I get the time.

  • I published an interview today with an independent game developer going by the name of Alastair John Jack: http://quote-un-quote.tumblr.com/post/8879148742/interview-indiedev-alastair-john-jack

Apparently he uses Construct, which is something I didn't realise until I interviewed him (and why I posted it here).

Anyways.. always appreciate feedback on the interviews I do.

  • Hello, guys!

the game is basically an action platformer.

The player is a guy with a lance capable of replicate the shots of the enemies.

there are three enemies at the moment, but they need some work on their behaviors. I'll add two or three more.

Mechanics implemented: powerups, shield, hiding ability, walljump, elevators, and some more to come...

Those screenshots are full of awesome. Looking forward to a dermo.

  • Expanded my prototype with deadeyes help. And also created 2 quick puzzle levels using the same mechanics.

Looking good. Hope to play it sometime.

  • Hard to list just 5, so I'll list a few more then that but anyways:

    Spelunky (pc indie)

    Rick Dangerous (Amiga)

Lyle in Cube Sector (pc indie)

    Snow Bros (arcade)

    Robocod (Amiga)

    Alex Adventure (pc indie)

    River Raid (Atari)

    Flood (Amiga)

    Galaga (Arcade)

    Final Fight (Arcade)

I could probably change that list any day of the week though.. there are so many games I have loved over the years and still love from all sorts of formats.

  • There's this game: http://madgames.adventuredevelopers.com ... creens.htm called Between Heaven and Hell, which was influenced by most of the above that you could also check out.

  • Was trying something for this little THE GAME PROTOTYPE CHALLENGE (#5)

But things never work out as well in Construct as I think they will in my head

Dissapointed now I thought I was onto something interesting.

Bar the fact that their seems to be no definitive goal, I think that looks pretty neat actually. You should totally come up with some sortof goal set for it (something to do with filling up the playfield with dots maybe or managing to get both linked creatures to a certain point before the lava rises with limits to how far you can stretch??).

  • Lookin' good, pyteo!

Here's a trailer I cut of my platformer, "Blight."

<--HD (be sure to pick 720p)

    <--SD (Not HD)

Some really nice details and the parallax scrolling is great.

  • doesnt look like much, but i got some perfect iso sorting with intersections working using a super hack on z elevation (still a few kinks displaying but its OK and i think it can be fixed)

    Looks really sweet. More please.
