  • I am looking for a simple way to distribute C2 games without using the the Internet?...say on a pen drive or cd/dvd.

I did a bit of research and came up with the following solutions:

1, An exe. that triggers the index.html

    2, A bat. that triggers the index.html

    3, A cmd that triggers the index.html

These methods will start the game without the user having to open the game folder and search for the the index.html file.

    examples

Click on play1, play2 or play3 to start the game.

Are there any other methods i could use ?

  • Bump !

I really need to resolve this...I have included a spaceinvader game in the following link(cap)

    files

Could somebody please download the files and create an exe out of the cap and let me know how big the EXE file is ?

It only uses 2 plugins MouseKeyboard and XAudio2

Before reinstalling everything the created exe was 22260 kb.

After reinstalling and creating a new exe, it is 3420 kb.

    Many thanks in advance.

  • I was having a few problems with my P.C, so I wiped my hard drive and reinstalling everything.

Everything working fine but some reason when i convert ANY of the caps

(that i backed up and put back) to exe file's, the exe is about over 1200kb bigger than what it would have been before i wiped and reinstalled ?

Anybody know what could be causing this? I havent added anything to ANY of the cap files, only altered some text.

Heres a screenshot of two caps i have just converted (tonight) to prove it wasnt just a one off.

  • I hope i am posting this in the right place?

I am getting the above error, if i change events or add new sprites to an existing game and try to preview it.

Pressing ignore will allow the game to run, but its really bugging me at the minute.

I have seen various posts about sprites not having animation frames added, and different ways to save projects to avoid the error if using Windows XP......but has anybody got a definitive answer ?

I havent posted any project files because it's happening to all of them.

Another question...if i have projects created with r59, is there an issue opening them with r60.

  • ^^ The computer I'm on right now has Vista. The test was done with a single layered pic, worked in MS Paint, failed in Gimp. Strange. I'm going to do some more testing with different programs and OS's and see what happens.

    Some image editors require:

    Right click ....Select all

    or

    Edit....Select all

To copy to the image to the clipboard.

  • Why are you trying to open a .am7 file in Construct 2? :S I've never heard of it, it's definitely not supported! That's the correct error message for opening the wrong kind of file (note "is this a Construct 2 project file?").

I wasn't trying to open the .am7 file with C2....why would i do that?

This is just an example of an error i am getting.

Maybe i have problems with my Registry settings?

  • One more thing i need to add-

when i try to open a Autoplay menu file (.am7)

Construct2 executes with the following message:

    <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22173473/autoplay.png" border="0" />

    <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

    P.S   Hope you have a good break <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Try Construct 3

  • chrisbrobs, does a new project crash or just that one you linked to? Do they crash in the editor or the browser?

It could still be bad drivers - latest doesn't necessarily mean stable. I've been amazed how bad some drivers are.

Just created a new project with sprites using physics behaviour and it ran ok.

The project with the errors, crashes as soon as i add or change something?

    <img src="smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Im still getting a lot errors/ random crashes or closures.

The fault could be my system, all the demo's run ok, but my projects seem to randomly crash.

I have performed a clean install, with new graphic drivers but the errors still happen.

    files

Zeno98 tested the above and had no problems.

What course of action would you suggest?

  • I was having ridiculously irregular C2 bombs with my Breakout clone, even with R60. So I backed up all of the examples, uninstalled C2, deleted the folder afterwards, and finally deleted the Reg key contents for C2 (be VERY careful). After re-installing R60, it (touch wood) hasn't bombed yet :)

I forgot - I also removed ALL of the user made Plugins such as Date and Function, etc. Whether they had a bearing on the stability is unknown, but I'm monitoring the situation :/

BTW you DO know I meant vary the speed of the basket in your .capx, don't you? Or have I misunderstood (quite possible) :(

    -----------------------------------------------

I have done a clean install? Might be the caproj files that i saved and reinstalled after I wiped everything?

I will create new projects and see if that sorts the problem

The basket is set at the lowest speed possible for testing purposes! <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />
