  • Construct 0.x has a wiki, the program itself sometimes explains things and there are tutorials (useful!). But sometimes something wasn't explained, or was explained without examples.

If using C2 would mean paying money, I would also hereby ask for explanations of all functionality.

For example the container-method (http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/c ... Containers) in the C0.x-wiki is very well done, and of course the platform tutorial.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • For my experimenting in Construct on small scale, I don't have big problems with C0.x as of now.

Is there any way to motivate future bugfixing for C0.x?

The only idea I have now is: I am willing to pay 1-5 (depends on the impact of the bug) euro per bug-report I do. (or if the bug already exists, just pay as motivation)

I would imagine I would only do bugreports with this model if the bug stops me from continuing or makes it very difficult.

As an added idea, perhaps people could vote on bugreports, so that the more votes, the more priority a bug-report gets.

  • Is it fair for you to ask Ash to work part time on it, so you can avoid paying the price of the license?

    No, not fair...

But I would prefer the old Construct situation over the new one.

I understand the new one (I read the post from Ashley), but this topic presented 2 options and I wanted to express my opinion.

  • (...) Either we don't spend that much time on it and don't reach those goals, or we take the plunge and go full time on it, in which case free software just doesn't make economic sense. (...)

I prefer that you don't spend that much time on it (part time) and don't reach those goals.

    It worked for C0.x.

  • Example text to include with updates:

"Remember, Construct 2 uses the pay-what-you-think-it's-worth-model.

So far, 82% of all registered users on the forum have paid, using this model.

If you're a new user: pay any price, considering the complete package that Construct 2 now is.

If you're an existing user of C2: how much do you think this update is worth to you? (this might be a lower amount of money, since you already experienced the above mentioned situation)"

  • By offering a pay-what-you-think-it's-worth-model, instead of a set price.

(when it has (almost) reached a point near the current state of Construct 0.x)

(might work on restaurants, in a small scale)

One websites said that in the restaurant example, you need to create a situation where you feel being watched and obligated to pay, or not to walk away without paying.

  • kinect + kinect drivers for windows (http://openkinect.org) = a new object/plugin for Construct?

SoftKinetic releases free, Kinect-compatible 'iisu' dev kit (joystiq.com)

What's an "iisu," you ask? It's an acronym for "The Interface Is You," of course! It's also the name of SoftKinetic's "3D gesture recognition" software development kit, available now for "qualified developers" to license for free. The iisu SDK is said to work with "all major 3D depth-sensing devices," which we're told includes support for Microsoft's Kinect.

The free version of iisu is strictly a "non-commercial" SDK, though a full, commercial version can be purchased. The dev kit offers tools for building both games and applications, and includes Unity 3D and Flash support. Interested parties can get the ball rolling by applying for a free license on SoftKinetic's application page.

Between SoftKinetic's SDK and those from Evoluce, PrimeSense and even Microsoft itself, there will soon be, like, so many SDKs available for Kinect. We're gonna start stretching right now in preparation for the eventual results.

  • Ok Cool. Have you guys decided on the pricing system yet? I wanted to pay for it today ^^''

just an idea thought : maybe you should do it a bit like minecraft pricing is, ware it's not much for alpha, more for beta and full price for final version?

Offtopic, but I want to respond on this with: I disagree with this idea.

  • A great looking game, check out the movie:

  • Is this useful for Construct? (source: joystiq.com)

GameSpy has announced that it's making the multiplayer framework used by a number of modern games (including Red Dead Redemption and Bulletstorm) free to any developer interested in using it. Developers of any size can get access to the code and tech required to integrate multiplayer matchmaking, player tracking, cloud data services and anything else needed to keep a large-scale multiplayer game up and running on almost any platform, even including cross-platform play.

"Free" has its limits, of course -- companies can't run a Bulletstorm-sized game using GameSpy's tech and get away with not paying at all. But much like the recent Unreal Engine 3 changes, this decision allows smaller developers to use and test the technology without any overhead costs. GameSpy's Senior Product Manager Sean Flinn tells Joystiq the service will be free below a modest cut-off point and that the company will have "additional pricing tiers" announced later this spring for titles with larger player bases. "We're not being super strict about the usage limits at launch," he says, though GameSpy will "continue to offer a paid tier of service for unlimited numbers of users and premium support."

Flinn says GameSpy is "betting big on the success of indie and start-ups," and it's hoping that independent developers using the service for free now will eventually grow to "need online services that match their ambition." Interested devs can join up with the program starting today.

  • For mouse and cursor it's the same as Construct but with directX instead of Win32, and with more actions, conditions and expressions than Construct.

Thanks for the reply and the plugin.

  • What is the difference between this plugin and the object mouse/keyboard, already present in Construct?

(I've already noticed in your description that it supports joystick.)
