  • That's it! I'm going out to buy a wiimote just for this.

  • First of all, sweet game, and I instantly recognized the style to be yours.

So I'm playing , all of a sudden I meet the wasps without wings, and start getting hit. To my surprise my 360 controller which is lying on the floor just starts rattling around. Oh hey, he added gamepad support! I pick it up, start spraying around and aiming, press every button and combination imaginable but DAMMIT I CAN'T MOVE OR JUMP! I assume this was all part of the "deception" theme.

Good idea and well executed for 2 days. Construct is the best tool for 2 day game compos.

  • It's a mental construct.

    pun intended.

  • just throwing this out there: did you accidentally stretch the megaman sprite? Try setting the width to 30.

    Also, try this.

    Always>

megaman: set position to round(.x) round(.y)

  • I saw the video in your tigsource thread and cracked up. The pitch of your scream during the presentation was so fitting, haha. I would definitely try it if I had a mic. Did you use a python lib to get mic input?

    Hilariously awesome idea.

  • Correct me if i'm wrong,

you used to be able to create an object then select it by family within the same tick?

  • However, it's a tad annoying to arrive on a level where everything is too high to climb and the sidewalls are also blocked =/ did I miss any way to get over that?

have you tried to access the inventory with W?

TowerClimb is my entry for the Gamejolt rogue competition.

It's a fairly expansive procedurally generated roguelike/platformer, with permadeath.

The objective? To climb. You are yet another man with a dream of reaching the top of the tower.

    play it at Gamejolt: http://gamejolt.com/freeware/games/plat ... limb/1459/

The instructions are on the Gamejolt page.

  • newt you don't need midi input, they sell midi to usb cables. There's one on amazon for like 5$ that I just bought, it's like 25$ cheaper than any other brand

  • I saw that video of the cat eating corn on youtube!

  • I'd say it helps, but it's not totally essential. Old school game music is mostly sequenced, so the keyboard mostly helps with trying out different chord sequences and melodies. What you should really try to get is good music software. Trackers are really tedious, but a program with a good note laying system makes creating game melodies much easier. For about a year and a half I didn't have a keyboard, only recently have I picked up a wire which allows me to use my old Casio on my pc. I can say it helps a lot with piano type themes and instrumentals, but for anything oldschool it's much better to lay it out by hand, since game music is often in perfect sync with the musical timeline.
