  • Isn't it because cubes use less rendering time? Also, smoke isn't the only thing people would use the particle object for. It can be used for Snow, Rain, Fire, Explosions, Ricochet's and pretty much anything else that requires many particles

  • I wasn't really trying to say that it should be done, I too believe that Construct should only be designed to go as far as 2.5D but I also wanted to mention that people could implement a 3D engine from Python on their own if they wanted to.

  • True, the game would probably look much worse than even Wolfenstein, but it is still possible.

    Offtopic: maybe someday when Construct has a big fanbase someone will modify a 3D Python engine to run from a Construct Python script, or would that not work?

  • Since Doom isn't "actually" 3D, it should be possible with math and work. Simple ray casting could probably be done using skew behaviour on sprites and the bullet object to simulate "rays" on the 2D map. Here is a wikipedia article about ray casting (also mentions Wolfenstein 3D) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_casting

    Edit: Also, the "get distance traveled" function in the bullet behaviour would probably really help in making a raycast engine as it could probably take alot of effort out of getting the correct scale on the sprite in 3D

  • There seems to be a new bug in the platform behaviour, sometimes it 'jitters' when the object touches the ground. I havn't noticed this before in previous builds.

    I noticed that in 0.96 as well (in my Much Shrooms game/demo). I also noticed that it only does it sometimes for me (whenever the mushroom tries to go inside the ground) but moving fixes it.

  • On the other hand... maybe I'll scrap the project altogether since a great zombie sandbox game just got advertised on TIGSource

    Nah dont scrap it just because someone else is making one, unless your making a game to sell, you make games for yourself and if the other one turns out to have stuff you dislike you can make your own one better! Although, if you do scrap it, can you put up a cap showing your skeletal animation system thingy? If it can be salvaged from the other code people create games with a Soldat style (http://www.soldat.pl)

  • Or we could have a section of the forums which hosts images or code for use in Construct projects and Construct can have a built-in browser/search for them which downloads them right into peoples projects. This would allow people to add/update their own graphics to the collection without a need for a new release of the graphics pack. Of course, this would also take Ashley alot of work and server bandwidth to setup.
