  • Unfortunately Construct 2 is not compatible with Construct Classic in any way. If you'd like to use the Card Game object, you must use Construct Classic =/

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I feel that Steve Wozniak should have soley owned Apple, and employed Steve Jobs, rather than things pretty much going the other way. Steve was a salesman, but Woz was the product.

Still, I really hope Jobs doesn't die, he deserves his retirement years.

  • I have implemented adding an ID to all connections so you can check the ID on disconnect to remove a player

    YES!! Thanks SciDave! <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I was using a "rotating pool" of 4095 ID numbers stored in each clients global variable ID. This meant that a player who was AFK for long enough to have 4095 clients join and disconnect has the next player steal his ID =/

  • You can find some free models here. Construct should be able to use any of the model formats on this page.

  • scidave, can i take new version and replace it with the old version in \plugins and in \runtime? Will my projects work? And when version 0.4 will br ready? <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Yup. That worked for me at least.

  • Hmmm... I doubt my knowledge of Construct extends that far, I'm afraid. I guess I'll have a mess about with these ideas... but I haven't done any 3D programming before. Actually, I haven't done any programing. I experimented with DarkBASIC but the sheer learning curve put me off, as well as that I was used to Construct's event system.

It's not necessarily as easy as Construct, but I found Blitz3D much easier and more intuitive than DarkBASIC. It also has a nice online community of plugins, and tutorials to learn from. Another good way to make 3D games is using Ninfa3D, a free alternative to Blitz3D, which uses similar syntax and comes with built-in physics and shadow casters.

    You can find Ninfa3D here

Edit: You can use it with the FreeBASIC IDE, but I can't find a link on how to set it up, so if you decide to use the engine ask here for how to do it and I'll see if I saved the instructions on my harddrive.

  • sorry for necroing my own thread.. well not really..but not sure if the magic translates over the web at all. but just got this from my friend in the mail, and it was way cooler to see this in person than the online image.

I mean look at it! it's a construct exe screenshot on the cover of a magazine journal thing!

Awesome job Lucid, did they credit you for it in the magazine?

  • Example of a 3D Object used to create a rotating tunnel, and player character with platform behaviour.

    <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/22173473/tunnel1.png" border="0">

    tunnel

Pretty useless but could be improved, and used within a game?

Reminds me of the 3D remake of Tower Toppler for Linux. You make some cool stuff Chrisbrobs.

  • Thanks for the quick reply, greatly appreciated :).

No problem, glad to hear it worked out for you.

  • Removing the solid attribute from the 2 objects should work. The platform behavior will still stop when it touches a solid object.

You can make the other 2 objects a new attribute (eg: Player/Enemy/etc), and then perform other collisions against that attribute.

  • This is pretty sweet, it reminds me alot of QWOP as well. Looks like you used mesh distortion to make the ground?

  • Those graphics are amazing Urled. Downloading now =P

Edit: Alright, that was pretty awesome. I had trouble finding the front end of the tank at times, especially when I accidentally got into fast spin. However, it's a cool engine and I'd love to see where you go with it =D
