  • Ah I see, that does make sense actually. You could manually name them that by hand though.

  • If you use the family manager, you can ensure there's no variable messups or objects without a family variable.

Sadly yes, it means you can't sell anything you create with any Dreamspark program.

It's explained better here (the above wording would be open to question on its own):

    A. This software is being provided to students for non-commercial use in particular academic activities. Pricing for commercial uses varies by channel and the associated rights, but products for non-academic use by non-students would typically be hundreds of dollars or more.

  • Indeed, showed alot of cool stuff!

  • After discussing feature requests here - and generally, if it's agreed it's a good idea (and we think it's doable!) - you can submit it to the SourceForge feature request tracker, so it's not forgotten in time, and will eventually be gotten around to (hopefully).

This is also the place to put very small additions or niggles which don't really require a thread, but which you might normally reply to a thread over. The small things are important, and this ensures that they can be dealt with efficiently.

  • FatCow doesn't appear to have ruby, and the pay as you go thingy looks to be expensive for 100gb .

DreamHost ticks all the boxes but I have heard negative things about it, I'll have to re look into them.

  • This also goes for hosts who offer 100% uptime or unlimited bandwidth; it's impossible to offer either .

  • I'm wary of very cheap hosts, 5 dollars for what we want sounds too cheap, to sound pedantic..

I'd rather we picked a large reputable host with very few complaints and a price which doesn't seem unrealistic.

  • We'll probably want to upscale host at some point soon (ish) so I was wondering what members here could recommend for web hosting.

    Here's roughly what we'll need:

    100mb or so disk space

    100gb transfer a month

    PHP support

    MySQL support

    Ruby support

Price should be anything between 10-15$ a month, preferably.

    Thanks.

  • Fairly well, most of the core stuff's done now.

  • Try not to be disheartened or in any way offended by the advice you receive; providing samples of work is the only way you'll find someone to work with, really.
