Vertical moving platforms are broken I believe (or were), a known issue. David should get round to it soon.

I'd definitely change that, seems unneccesary. If you're storing pointers to all the letters then you can just move them and update their position.

Mikmod isn't ideal, but it should support most formats. It's probably more hassle than it's worth to change the engine, though someone could develop another plugin if they really need it.

I'm all for it. It's not the ideal export format nor is it really meant for games, but it's still multiplatform.

It'd just import the graphics/animations and resources from an old .cap, which is pretty much as far as it could go without some significant work.

Tiled backgrounds draw a little slower too; you'd only want to use them - as Ashley said - for tiling.
