  • I think it is a limitation with the way input is received, though it could probably be addressed with some work.

  • Construct *is* for making specific types of games extremely easy to create... or at least prototype.

The program by itself and the default plugins/behaviors aren't for this. Any specialised plugin/behavior however can be made to make tasks easier. They're alot of effort, so you should hire someone for custom solutions if you want them badly.

  • Sadly I lost the installer source code so I'd have to rewrite it to get that feature up and running. Until then yes, just dxwebsetup with your game is enough. We use Inno setup for the main installer, which handles distribution very well.

  • <Insert obligatory comments on how it's the persons loss if they modify the game>

If your level is fairly complicated, then to modify it to confer any kind of advantage or anything (which in itself isn't disastrous) would be effort. Having your games open to mod often extends the life anyway! If you have a sub directory called 'maps' or 'levels' it's no clutter.

  • You should update your graphics drivers. I can't say I've seen a report of freezing before, nor of what you describe.

  • I think it's possible sound and music resources don't work well yet.

  • Good tip! Added it to the wiki FAQ.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • I'd still say there's a lot to be done for a full fledged game - depending on what you want. Ladders, enemies, AI, etc.

  • Shift left/right does the job there.

  • It was a colour parameter before, not a 0-255 value.

  • Construct provides the runtime engine. It is like arts teacher provides you with a block of clay.

What you make out of it, is entirely your problem. The arts teacher won't shape the block of clay out for you, you have to do it yourself.

There is no tile engine for Construct yet, but it has everything you need to make one. Like deadeye said, you are wasting time by looking for shortcuts. It is almost as if you don't want to make a game yourself, you just want to direct it around.

Unfortunately game development is about putting effort into your projects. I am still failing, but I'm getting there... slowly.

QFT. Construct is developed to enable anyone to make pretty much any 2D game they want, not to make certain types of game ridiculously easy, like RPG maker.
