• You haven't been harsh at all! I don't want people to feel they can't be critical - you can and that is often some of the most valuable feedback we can action.

Our address is on our contact page, gifts are always awesome but are completely not necessary! If you feel compelled to send us something, more postcards to stick on our postcard wall are always welcome!

• We have a graphic designer working full time right now He completed a couple more of those images which I'm adding to the site today.

Right now regarding server development of the site, am working on implementing all the billing/invoicing for the launch.

• The licensing is changing from C2 to C3, the $5,000 USD cap is no longer going to be an option .

As a sole trader, you have two activities:

• Personal activities
• Sole trader acitivities

If you're using C3 for purely personal acitivites, not related to your sole trader status Personal Edition is fine.

If you're using C3 for your sole trader business or generating income from your projects which is being accounted for in your sole trader business you need a business edition. A lot of sole traders I imagine will fall into the Startup Business license, not the full license.

Having said all that, we realise there's an awkward transition here for people who currently are using the personal edition of C2, and are looking to upgrade to C3 - for example in Germany individuals must register as sole traders if you want to garner any income.

We're thinking about a solution for this, but I have said that anyone who falls into this category we can do the following for the initial year:

• Buy a C3 startup business licence/business license as appropriate
• Email support
• We will then refund the majority of the payment so the total you have paid is the same as the Personal Edition with the discount applied (~$50 USD)

Hope that answers the questions.

• There's a lot of levels of caching between you and the server (lots!) We're getting a few bugs which we're dealing with as they come up. Caching bugs are pretty tricky to deal with but bear with us I think we're nearly there.

• I don't think Ashley has any plans to bring back the Ribbon I'm afraid. Pros and cons of all UI components.

Havok couple of small corrections/comments:

[quote:1zzjhjb8]Now it can work on iPad etc.

It wont work on your iPad, iPhone etc and probably wont for the foreseeable future. Android support is good though.

[quote:1zzjhjb8]In a browser...Chrome. So now the Menu button is in the way and oddly placed and one loses quit a bit of space at the top to accommodate the tabs actual browser menu bar and address bar.

This is a good point. Desktop build will get rid of that, and secondly in Chrome:

• Open https://editor.construct.net
• Click options in top right
• Click 'more tools'
• Click 'add to desktop'
• Make sure 'open in new window' is selected

This will create a desktop shortcut where Construct 3 opens without any of the browser UI

[quote:1zzjhjb8]Can't save to hard drive: I like the fact that I can save to DropBox / OneDrive but imho there NEEDS to be an offline save. For the love of all things NOT cloud. Please.

You can save and open files locally! Cloud is completely optional!

[quote:1zzjhjb8]Always needed to be connected to internet to launch. - No internet...well you are SOL paying friend.

Works offline 100% fine! Try bookmarking https://editor.construct.net once it's finished loading completely. Pull your internet cable out, and open the shortcut. It should work just fine We're working on a solution to make sure this works with paid versions, it will likely just require you to be online a minimum of once per month just to ensure your license is still active.

[quote:1zzjhjb8]Having to deal with Doubleclick.net, Google cookies

Are aware some users wont be comfortable with Google Analytics, users who purchase a license from us will have the option to disable all of that.

• The unfortunate reality is that from doing analysis on usage of Construct 2 , we see a much higher proportion of free edition users than we hoped. The goal of the free edition was to get people interested who would then buy a personal edition license once they are familiar with C2, but the limits in C2 free edition appear to be seemingly adequate for a LOT of people.

So we were faced with two options, time limited version of more restrictive free edition.

We decided against a time restricted free version, and decided to go for more restrictions on the free edition of C3 in the hope it will lead to more sales (pretty confident it will). We've started off conservatively, so we can expand the free edition at a later date if we so choose to (this is a million times more preferable than starting off with too many free features, and having to take them away from people!). However, we have no plans to do this at all. If things go well, it will likely stay that way.

• Understand the frustration! Couple of things to mention:

• Don't want to start selling now, product needs to go through the beta period to iron out bugs
• Not interested in selling pre-orders either, not a model we really like and will cause some administrative burdens/extra work to support it

Regarding free edition limits:

• Ashley has said that it's 1,000x easier to fix bugs that are discovered in small projects. It gets much much harder and time consuming to pin down, isolate and fix bugs in bigger projects
• The Newgrounds jam will have all features unlocked for everyone
• Having said all this, if the bugs do start drying up prior to the jam (because we've fixed them all!) we might consider expanding the events. But as it stands, we've got plenty to be getting on with.
• Yes absolutely. We've always said that without a subscription (even in the free edition) you can open any project and look around it, preview it etc.

• Yes, it's noticeably nicer round here and I think my blood pressure has dropped considerably since the other day!

One very kind user sent us a hamper full of sweets, so at the moment we're all running on sugar

• Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
• > I know that it is a sensitive topic but a lot of other companies are switching to the subscription model. When Photoshop and Illustrator came out with a subscription, I was hesitant, especially at 50 dollars a month. However, looking back, I actually love the subscription model.

>

> It's easier to update and there is always something new feature that comes along that makes it worth it.

>

> For 99 dollars a year that about 8 dollars a month or 27 cents a day. I know that can be a lot of money in some areas but if you live in the developed world it really isn't that much money. Chances are you spend more on pizza than software. At 8 dollars a month it's cheaper than a photoshop license (19/mo).

>

> After working with the alpha, C3 is totally worth every penny. I look forward to the full version. It will be the easiest way to get your idea out there for the least amount of effort.

>

That's the part that worries me, just search "USD COP" in google. However I am still considering the subscription when I see any significant change in C3 over C2, I mean, they have made an amazing job porting C2 to a browser and improve some details but I was expecting something that blow my mind, anyway it will be really hard to find a great event system like construct have anywhere.

I have a question, I don't know if that was answered before, If I find C3 would be good for me in 1, 2 or more years, I will have the discount for having a C2 license by that time?

We're aware that $99 is affordable in some countries, and completely unaffordable in others. The payment system we're building is pretty sophisticated and will allow us to trial different subscription prices/billing periods in different regions. We're not launching with different pricing in different regions, but it's something we're capable of, and definitely looking to review on a region-by-region basis in the future.

• Burvey is right, C3 currently in beta any everyone is on free edition. Options to upgrade and to exercise your discounts will come at end of the beta.
