  • I made a goal to finish a game in a month. I started this one the beginning of November- pretty much there, few bits to finish but I am hoping to get it all done in a week

Its a pretty simple "idle" style clicker game where you upgrade your office until you have the biggest office in the city-

  • Very cool atmosphere

Kind of a meat boy feel

Love how you insta-respawn after you die and dont have to click any annoying "try again" buttons or anything.

I beat the playable bit- id say more levels, more puzzles, and maybe more environments as you progress to give the player feedback and a feeling of progression

new abilities- double jump? an attack?

looks great though- you are off to a fantastic start. Keep it up.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • great work- a lot went into this obviously.

-I didnt like the limited visibility on the sky above because guys would fall down onto me without any notice and kill me-

-In the buy screen, It took a while to realize I had to arrow over and spacebar to buy instead of clicking

-in the buy screen when you try to buy something but dont have enough money- the text field that displays the cost is behind the "cost:" text after its animation

-Id suggest coloring money and pickups something other than black so you can see them and its more obvious you can pick them up

a lot of attention to detail here- maybe team up with an artist / animator and this game could be pretty rad. nice work

  • Looking awesome! Keep it up! I use the Magistross plugin too! He is amazing- such a useful plugin Good luck on finishing!

  • I'm embarrassed I didn't realize that

  • Great, thanks!

  • Hopefully a quick question here-

On start of layout I set a bunch of values / titles in an array. I then use a global variable to store a value that reads in which array X value to display the text as- pictures of that below. It works great... until the value hits 10. Once I get to double digits, "0" displays instead of a title. Can anybody explain why and how to resolve it? Thanks-

Here I am just creating the titles/values for the array

and this is how I am displaying them. This is an "every tick" event

    Thanks

  • i dont have an answer but I am also interested in seeing one from somebody

  • Hey this is very helpful- Thanks! (2 years later )

  • I didn't see too many games made with C2, I don't know what it could mean...less C2 users in this segment of indie developers...?

These results from the Global Game Jam the past couple years are interesting- I dont think C2 is going to drop off- seams to still have a strong user-base. I think part of it is C2 is a great introductory software / engine. You can "Graduate" from it and go to unity or something else that has more options or 3d etc.

It does seam to hold its own-

Im curious to see what Construct 3 holds in store-

  • I used to be big on LD as well, but in the end, this specific game jam is nothing but a popularity contest.

Nevertheless, I still believe game jams help to train game making skills and are a good idea.

I just really got disheartened by the Ludum Dare itself.

I can see that- Ive enjoyed doing them just because its fun to be a part of something so big- it always gets so many submissions, but it does turn into a popularity contest especially at the end with the peer rating-

Thanks for the advice on where to post in future threads- ill remember that and post in a more appropriate spot next time-

  • Me too- great job- lets do it again soon! Maybe we can get a few more people posting and participating for the next one.

    Awesome work everyone!
