  • Here. is this what you are trying to do? It's kinda quick and dirty but you get the idea.

  • wow I have it 98% done and i was stuck on on getting the Player name and score in/out of C2 when I closed C2 without saving the template started from a a project OUCH! So the only working somewhat copy is up at c2 dot i2tmlabs dot /c2scores/

However i did come across a Plugin someone had already made in 2012. Did you see this?I think what I am doing is better so i will complete it, just got to start the C2 part again from scratch. The javaScript, PHP and MySQL are all working. But try that URL for now and I'll post mine when its done.

  • You don't have to, just using physics to give it a realistic effect. I know box2D has friction and such because that's what I built my engine on so your problem could be friction is being applied to your object. I have not played with any of that yet with construct 2 but that's where I would look. If you cant find it ... im sure there are plenty of us here that can help you. just extract the events and layout for that one part and we'll take a look.

Thank you DUTOIT but its ok. He just got under my skin because I have been arguing with the wife over that very matter. But otherwise he's entitled "think" what he likes. Just caught me off guard and bad timing.

i do, i have since october 2012, no commute, work out of the house as stated in another thread and use 5 developers out of india when i need to contract work out via oDesk. I'll back-off when I don't have to work that much to feed the family, Plus, I am passionate about it and do not want to go back to work for another company. i turn down 2-3 jobs a month. And that an average of what I do (source my project management spreadsheet) over the last 2 years. I do take some time off once in while. but I do only sleep 6 hours a day and im fine with it because I'm doing something I love and the time just flies by. Pisses the wife off most the time. Anyway I'm done with this topic, Im working on a high scores tutorial for another member.

Fimbul I could care less what you believe. he asked i responded. Your welcome to ask my wife. An its right at 18 hrs a day and that include sales, marketing, developing, finances, etc.

  • ok, thanks for response.

  • Hi there, give me a couple of hours. I'll put together a tutorial that will handle that for you. First a few questions/suggestion.

    1) Are you authenticating the player? or they just type in any name. In the latter case each player can have infinite names.

    2) Server-side storage. I strongly suggest MySQL database just in case you end of having millions

    3) Front-end are you going to display the scores in game or online or both?

Please answer back quickly if possible since I am starting the project now.

  • i concur with inquiesco. You need a business license, usually not much. Let me list the pro's for you.

    • You get to write-on a percentage of your household expenses suck as 1/ or your sqrft, internet, electricity, etc and at the end of the year when you file hopefully you had profit, otherwise write it off as a loss. technically you dropped your expenses by 1/3
    • if your just doing ad banners, you dont have to count that, ts not retail. If you sell something in game, such as a super cookie, that is retail and you need a retail license.
    • a website is for basic company info, you can use WIX if you want and pay $20 yr for a domain, you also provide support here.
    • and a business you have more weight if someone stills your content

all in all if your going to develop you need a business to develop under. Look into incorporating out of delaware if you are serious but want to keep expenses low.

  • I would just use JSON.

  • Im not at the house atm but without looking at your code the difference between crouch and roll is your not moving. When you play an animation effect (like Roll) and you do not keep your object moving manually then it must have its own velocity. For example your player starts off running, it takes 3 secs to get to players max speed, when the player rolls the friction lowers his speed by X% and so on. I think you see where i am going with this. Try using input to change your players velocity up and down, run the animation of walking/running as a percentage of the velocity and I bet your roll with work even better than you wanted.
