  • Yes, I think this is an excellent candidate for a suggestion that has very strong chances of actually being implemented. Mainly because it is very easy.

Shortcuts for changing between animation would also be quite easy to implement, but I am not sure what should they be? Any suggestions?

Maybe the same as the frames shortcut? But, instead, using Up/Down Arrows. So Ctrl + Up, and Ctrl + Down to move up and down the animations list, if that's not already being uses in the sprite/animation editor. So you could use left & right to navigate the frames, then up & down to navigate the animations.

  • > ...is there a way to crop all the animations in a sprite?

I need to add, that I was referring to this question, and not the previous one.

    > If you click the little arrow pointing down, by the "Crop Transparent Edges" in the Sprite Editor toolbar, there is a selection of "Apply to Animation"

I missed to add this, but brainwavecreations dit not forget it ;)

Haha, looks like we both replied right about the same time :). Yeah, that's the extent of my knowledge as far as cropping frames in animations. That shortcut list comes in handy if you have any hardware for setting simple shortcuts as well.

Some artists have a piece of hardware, I use a TourBox device, for digital painting. Never thought of using it for Construct though. Maybe I'll get around to it at some point. But, keyboard shortcuts in Construct are easy enough. The TourBox, is mostly to have a pen/stylus in hand, and not need a keyboard for shortcuts.

That's beyond the point though. Don't mind my ramblings XD

EDIT: DiegoM - Ohh yeah, forgot to mention the shortcut for that GUI option as well. It's listed under the Shortcuts Page for reference. Good to keep that shortcuts list handy. Searching "Construct 3 shortcuts" in Google/Duck Duck Go, brings the page right up as well, Laserwolve Games

  • If you click the little arrow pointing down, by the "Crop Transparent Edges" in the Sprite Editor toolbar, there is a selection of "Apply to Animation". That will crop all frames in that given animation. See screenshot here: https://ibb.co/L0gjMy2

I don't believe there is an option to crop all frames within all animations, though...

Also here is a link to the shortcuts in Construct 3 https://www.construct.net/en/make-games/manuals/construct-3/interface/keyboard-shortcuts . Under "Animations" there are a bunch. Looks like CTRL + Left/Right will move between frames. I do not see a shortcut for selecting the next animation the list though... Unless I missed it in the list there.

  • Hello I am currently learning Construct 3 and I came across the 3D camera object and I added the object to my game but I don't know how to use it. This might be a stupid question but it would be great if someone could help.

Have you checked out any of the 3d examples? If you are looking for a first person perspective, you may want to take a look at the "First-Person Shooter", and "First-Person Platformer" examples that are found right on the start page of Construct 3. Just type in "3D" in the search bar on the upper left hand side. And numerous examples will come up, including those two ;)

  • It's not a book but you might be interested in the Learn JavaScript in Construct tutorial series. It's still being written so there are a few more parts to come, but there's 9 parts there already at time of writing.

Was coming in here to recommend your tutorial series XD. I've been getting a ton out of these so far! Been reading through them as they are dropped. Thanks for the great educational content, as always :)

  • This video might be worth checking out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9VrQBCfrRw&list=PLsMSMKsXR46fkgOvlWvhZcpJ7ip4w0hk8&index=9

I do not recommend following the entire tutorial series, as the author unfortunately makes a lot of changes between videos, so it takes a lot of time to see the changes from video to video, and pick apart the event sheets by pausing the videos multiple times.

Anyways... That video I linked to. Shows a pretty simple way to create lighting effects using like Wisdoms said, sprites and layers. Basically a dark overlay sprite on a layer, then another sprite pinned to the player character, or in this case torches to create the lighting effect. Adding a second frame to the lighting sprite and increasing/decreasing the size creates a flickering effect. Or just a single frame in the light sprite, you could have a solid circle of light around wherever you place that sprite.

  • I'll be online for another 30 minutes. If you want to upload your .c3p, or some screenshots, I might be able to lend a hand real quick.

EDIT: I've got to get going soon. Hopefully someone else, provides some helpful advice to this issue. I would take a close look at your objects, and event sheets. Make sure there is nothing there causing this. Bugs can be tricky to spot. Some of the bugs in my projects I've spent hours, only to find something that was staring me right in the face the entire time.

  • And, you are using the built in Pathfinding behavior? Finding a path to where the enemy should move to. Something like, "Event Condition(s)" > "Pathfinding: Find path to (Object.X, Object.Y"). Then "On Pathfinding path found" > "Pathfinding: Move along path"?

Also, making sure that the object it is trying to move through is a "Solid"? Also, double check the bounding/collision box, of the object it is colliding with?

  • Try Construct 3

  • If all of your events/actions are setup correctly, and still having issues with collisions, falling through platforms etc. Take a close look at the collision box, and the image point on all frames of your player, and other objects it interacts with.

Sometimes collision boxes without completely flat edges can cause issues. Lately I've been using a perfectly square sprite(invisible), and pin my player sprite to that invisible sprite. Then manipulate each one as necessary in the Event Sheets. I've experienced issues in the past with edges on collision boxes(especially on my player sprites) that were at a very slight angle, say .14 off from one point to another, on either the x or y axis.

I definitely recommend going through some tutorials here on the Construct website, YouTube, and other educational websites as well, to get familiar with the software. To make sure it is not something being setup incorrectly in your event sheets. Even after gaining quite a bit of knowledge, it can be tricky to find certain bugs within your projects. But, with more time and practice comes more skill and mastery, as with anything :)

EDIT: But, most of the time, weird glitches like you mention, have to do with the collision box or image points within my Sprites. Or some confliction within my Event Sheet, that takes me some time to find.

  • OK who has seen squid game remember the glass jumping game?

i made a 3d version but idk how to make the sprite jump

Have you taken a look at the "First-person platformer" example in Construct 3? It has a jump using the Space Bar. Taking a look over the Event Sheet in that example may help you out.

  • Alright I'm pretty sure this will work. Thx! I'll try it when I get home.

Sure thing! Always happy to help, where I can :). Let us know how you make out.
