  • Hey, that's awesome. Roguelikes.

  • I would say, design the game completely, then program it, then create art for it. If it's only you working on the project.

  • One thing I think would be cool to design, is your simple walkmesh with a 3D character to run about on over the 2D background, as in like, late-nineties Final Fantasy games. But that could be faked with 2D... and doing any of it requires artistic ability, some modeling knowledge, and it seems programs like Construct are created to be used by people who don't know anything, so they can do whatever without trying. Err, what am I saying? I don't know. It's all good.

  • I guess you'll just have to spend a couple years learning how to program, and when you have gained the experience, you will hopefully know how to do this. (I'm kidding)

  • j0h, I just wanted to say, that I enjoy reading your posts. Not in a way that I think I'm better than you or anything... you just sound like a mafia hitman. I like the tone; it's fun to read.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • If you put a quote in front of the search string it returns a certain other thread here.

  • Yeah... detectors seem superfluous. One could either use one detector object that moved around, or calculations based on distance, maybe. But, I don't know what you're really doing or anything about math. So I'm sorry, this post is pointless.

  • Heh, you payed for usage rights? That's awesome. I am glad to hear, truly!

    Good luck on the project.

  • Because porn and copyright theft is so exciting.

  • The new scheme takes some getting used to. I don't really like it at first glance. It pushes me away. While the posts are still fine to read, none of the other navigation is really very pleasing. The colours for text and links just doesn't pop out... and there are so many different colours, it lacks harmony; like, you just chose random colours for each link type / information object, because you can. The subtle differences aren't very good. In my opinion it should either all be the same, or totally full of pleasing, but limited-in-quantity, contrasts.

  • You could probably use events to make it turn off when the mouse moves.

  • lol, err, 60FPS for all of them. nVidia 8800GT. But I would'nt exactly call my computer "low spec"

I recommend you up your refresh rate! That card could probably go pretty high...

Unless you're on a TFT, as everyone is these days; I have no idea how they work, so if so, nevermind myself again.

  • Ohh. For some reason I was under the impression that the HDR bloom effect was Pixel Shader 3.0 only. But, now I have done research, and see that they perform essentially the same. Alas, I have failed to find the answer!

  • It might be because his card supports PS3, whereas yours is skipping the effect entirely.

  • And ODE is open-source. But, these are future things, if ever, from the looks of it.
