  • Well the newest unstable build seems to sort this issue.

I wonder if it might be the opposite case MrMiller, that the .cap are being created in newer unstable builds; that are showing issues with backward compatibility.

  • Ok, downloading the latest unstable build and will report back.

  • I am having trouble opening any .cap file that I've downloaded recently, mostly examples created in response to my questions. Construct throws the above error Dialogue, on closing the Dialogue nothing is open, but Construct is still running and can be used as if nothing had happened. It therefore appears to be an issue limited to the .cap opening function(s) of Construct.

I can create and open .cap files I create on this PC. I can also open all the Tutorial .caps that I have downloaded - about 7 or 8 of them. I can also open all the Examples via the New Menu.

I have just uninstalled, rebooted and then reinstalled a newly downloaded instance of Construct 0.99.62. I am logged in as Admin and also specifically run the installer as Admin.

My PC is running Windows 7 Pro 64, on an AMD X2 platform with 4GB RAM, and a HIS HD5770 1GB video card.

I've tried to search the forum, but as it does not seem possible to do a phrase search, searching for 'Out of Memory' returns 50 pages and none of the first 3 pages have anything that is 'Out of Memory' related.

Does anyone have any suggestions on going about tackling this...could be Win7 64 related?

Does this warrant a Bug Report, even though I can't substantiate it with a log or error dump or provide reproduction steps?

At this point in my learning of Construct, this has now become a 'show stopper' for me.

  • Thanks everyone.

I think I am now getting a handle on arrays following Silent Cacophony explanation

  • Try Construct 3

  • Thanks scidave, typical - I'd had a look up to Part 2 of the tutorial. I'll go and have a look at the rest.

  • Thanks newt.

I had a look at the ini object and could use it, although I still think an array would be more efficient as the player is going to trigger the check at the end of each level, with new data.

Are there any tutorials or examples of using an array? I've had a quick look but alas I've not found anything yet.

  • I don't know if I'm just being dense, or if the structure and use of the Array Object is just really different to VB6 Arrays, but I just can't seem to do some basic stuff with it.

What I'm trying to do is to put 3 bits of information into an array, 1 set of 3 for each of 6 sprites. Then at another time and place in the game, loop through the array and compare the second element (2nd bit of information) of each record (set of 3 bits of information) and depending on what the 2nd bit of information is; increase the value of a private variable.

I can get the 1st and 2nd bits of information into the array, for the 1st sprite, but the 3rd bit overwrites the 1st bit or just messes up everything...I just can't seem to workout how to reference each element of an Array record - X,Y and Z.

I've been through the Wiki page for the Array Object, but alas here I am.

Can someone steer me in the right direction please...

  • Thanks for the example, however I can't open it...I get an 'Out of Memory' error and nothing opens.

    I'm using version 0.99.62

    Any suggestions?

  • Great behavior plugin, hope to make use of it.

Is it possible to set the path relative to an external object...for example, a sprite (enemy) is to make a single circuit of another sprite (player) and then leave the layout, the Player however can move about so the Enemy path needs to move relative to the Player so as to allow the Enemy to complete its circuit.

Can this be done currently, if if so, how?

  • I've just started a new project, again , that is a vertical arcade shooter, but with a mission format and RPG elements.

Its so pre-Alpha I haven't even come up with a Title for it, its working name is Space Shooter - imaginative hah

Here's what it looks like so far, lots of time finding and arranging graphics, a short stint in Construct to see how it looks...

  • I tend to agree about having a look at the Sine behavior for #2

  • ok, cheers.

  • Cheers, thanks for the explanation.

  • I've started getting the above error with Construct but am not sure if it means my project is corrupt in some way or if Construct has issues with Windows 7 Sleep, and going back to an open session after the PC is woken.

I can't give any further details as the Message Box has the Title of CD3D Error but the message area and the button contain no text.

    Any suggestions?

  • Sounds like the answer I'm looking for, but the file is no long available from Rapidshare - could you make it available again please?
