Is this your newest test version available for download? It was the only one I found in your links, so that's what I tried.

I see you used Gaia avatars for some of the character art. Nice idea for fast prototyping actually!

The test itself was awfully confusing though. I could walk jump around a bit before finally getting pushed off the stage, and every time I pressed the attack button it resulted in the character moving his weapon down very sloooowly while doing some damage. Looks like it was mostly made to test out all those numbers and calculations that show up on screen though, so I guess it doesn't tell much about the final product.

Would be nice to see a platformer/rpg kind of thing made in construct though, so keep it up

  • As far as I remember, there have always been talks about C2 being commercial - even before the alpha was released.

Anyway what is done is done - let's just try and iron out those misunderstandings now instead of keeping them here, and improve it's current state?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Sounds very useful! I'm not in a place where I test it right now, but good work

  • The event system is largely the same, so I'd say that you can use the old tutorials for a lot of things.

Many of the features used in the tutorials won't be available in Construct 2 though, since they haven't been implemented yet. So that might be a problem for more advanced tutorials.

  • Just like the last proposal, I have no problem with what you've come up with.

But the lack of an .exe exporter means it's a no for me.

Ditto. At least it makes it less certain that I'll jump on-board right away... An exe exporter would be lovely :3

Other than that, I have no problems with this model.

  • Nope. Last I heard (during the release of C2) a new release is coming up with a few new additions.

  • - [CHANGE] Keyboard input when the keyboard object is present does not reach the browser - e.g. pressing up/down will not scroll the browser window.

Awesome! Thanks, this was a minor but still annoying issue.

  • No crash for me so far. (Vista 32bit)

Looking more awesome each day. Now, for what I would love to see next... global variables and global objects. Colour filter would be great too.

Being no real programmer myself I have no idea what features would make most sense to add next, but these would be useful for me at least

  • What a lot of additions :O Will have to try this when I get home. And I thought you said you wouldn't work on this for a short while

  • That battle system looks very impressive so far I can imagine something really interesting being made with that.

  • I wonder - C2 has this fundry thing going on now. Since C1 is now left to open source developers, maybe a fundry should be made for that as well? To give an idea of what we really want to be worked on so C1 stays alive, and give developers a concrete goal.

Just a thought. What do you think?

  • I will love you for an inventory plugin. I think I'm nearing the stage where I could actually make an inventory myself... but anything that makes complicated things easier is awesome!

  • Somewhere between 10-13 fps with Firefox 3. Was expected though, since it's not an optimal browser for this, it seems

I am also reminded of the annoying problem with browser games, where the webpage itself scrolls up/down every time I use the up/down arrowkeys.... probably nothing Construct can do anything about, just a minor annoyance.

  • I'm one of the poor souls on Vista, only just missed the 7 version. Will have to wait until next time I get a new laptop... >_<

  • Variables will be awesome. And functions maybe?
