  • Hi Construct Community,

I d like to filter the background music of my game when for example the main char goes under water.

The audio output i d like to achive is very close to that used at 0:18 in the opening of Daft Punk's Around The World https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yca6UsllwYs

My problem with Construct 2 and the filters is:

The volume goes to 0 after a certain time

    The browser crash

The documentation and the forum posts i found didn t help me to set up the filter

I have been using a full track, not a loop.

    Please help!

  • Thank you Ashley, I will try that.

  • Hi guys

I am working in a project where we d like to have the lowest layer scaled down in order to have all the object there looking smaller than the rest.

I d like to point out that such layer has paralax 80, 80 and all the layers rotate 1 (same amount and same angle each) degree every second.

We have been messing around with the variuous scale rate settings and functions and red the documentation but for now we just managed to resize it just a little bit and the foreground layer get cut in the edges...

    Please help!

  • Yes, we are becoming fans of "strategic-phantom-rectangles", through them collisions work very well and are very easy to trigger.

Thank you for your help Dop.

  • Thank you for your answer dop2000.

We found the "rectangle system" pretty steady indeed, but sometimes requires more code, as we need to move more parts and use UIDs to avaid mess.

By using offset as you suggested the action is triggered on the entire width of the object, so with just

one foot on platform and the character trigger the action... we don t want that.

  • Hi guys,

Spent already several hours to figure out how to handle collisions in C2 (offset stuff in particular).

We are (trying) to develope a game that involves lot of actions triggered by ''on landed" conditions, till now we have prototyped such dinamics by using invisible rectangles that help to get the job done, but I am pretty sure that the same result can be achieved by using maths and expressions:

basically this is what like to do:

If character (1, red) lands after a jump/by falling onto the block (3, black) but only within the designed area (2, green) = something happen.

Guess we didn t understand offset very well, as we cannot get the green designed area right.

    Please help.

  • Thank you, I will try that.

I designed that way because I am learning the software, I am not so much into math/program. Thank you again!

  • Hi guys

I have been stuck, trying to figure out this: I have a bunch of spawning objects outside the layout and I d like them to spit projectiles in random order.

I saved their X coordinates in a array and set up a function to pair the right y value for each x value that is randomly picked (so the projectile spawn exactly in the middle of the spamming object), like this:

The problem is that only 3 out of 4/5 spawning points work, I connot figure out why....

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • : that is a great news, and I am looking forward to see that feature.

Though my idea is slightly different. Create a ''Virtual Game Center'' where gamers connect to and enjoy indie games without installing anything, thus getting quality experience, full screen games, possibly playing with a controller.

Imagine a place where indie devs can just develop in html5 (without compiling issues or headache) and submit their game to a proper game platform (now html5 is still a web reality, your game runs surrounded of adds and unlikely full screen).

: well on paper this project it s not THAT complicated to develop, what we need:

    1) someone that can develop on chromium, which is the open source version of chrome. We basically need a UI-less chrome browser, that opens full screen and connect to our server.

    2) the rest is pretty much about web design.

there are lot of ways to help, like creating a buzz around the project, coding yourself, posting ideas etc....

I already posted on chromium google group, but havent gotten any reply yet.

  • Hello Scirra community!

I would like to pitch you a new idea to make our games looking more 'consoles' like.

A client based on chrome to be installed on pc, mac or linux computers.

    The concept is pretty simple

    1) we develop a client based on chrome to be installed on computer. This client is basically a browser but without UI that connects to a server where our games are hosted. Our games will be designed to work full screen and possibly support a gamepad. The sense of this is to have a client that once you fire it up plays instantly Full Screen.

    2) Then is about to create a marketplace where our games are displayed and organized.

I think this simple idea can mask well that html5 is (for now) just a stable browser technlogy and a proper place for gamers and indie programmers.

What you guys think? Interested in helping me making this happen?

  • Very nice I liked it!

  • Oustanding artwork and game design, I do think it s the best game I saw made in C2.

At this point though, after trying both the chrome version and the .exe, I have to say that the framerate I get doesnt make the game as enjoyable as it should... the scrolling is laggy and the snakes behave oddly when I jump on them.

You are doing a great work, do not take me wrong, what I am pointing my finger at is the engine that maybe cannot handle that amount of images smoothly.

I am not using a super computer, but it should be able to run the game without problems.

I am the only one not enjoying this game at the right fps?

  • That is the point, develop a game that it can be worth playing with a controller.

I like 2d games in general, there are even some types of games that personally i like better in 2d than 3d.

Ashley created a great piece of software in my opinion, in one week or so i was able to set a game exactly as i wanted.

Though, the fact that html5 is not mature and you dont get the same quality when you compile it to other file format (bugs, sound issues, crashes) it makes html5 at least now not so appealing.

shame because construct2 it s simple the best 2d game editor on the marke imho

please keep us posted about your game and ouya

    cheers

  • I have open an Indiegogo campaign to try to gather up at least the money to buy the full license of Construct2.

    Every little help is welcome!

    Thank you!

  • Please create an official post, a blog, a community website, really whatever it takes to keep us posted about it.

I think the topic it s pretty hot.

Can you share some more thoughts about C2 and Ouya?

did you experienced the usual sound issues/ freezing issues that many c2 exported games have on android?

do you think that it could be possible to have a c2 game running as good as a native language developed game on Ouya?

have you tried to access a C2 game though the ouya browser and see what happen?

I think many users would be interested knowing this...

    thank you
