  • I found out it isn't only Construct 2, but Avast blocks similar file types from similar programs. When any executable is being created it isn't always secure, when any executable is set out world wide it becomes less secure due to hack risks. This is why Avast blocks files like this.

Solution: *do at your own risk*

In order to open .Capx files when you have Avast installed and 'Hardened mode' enabled, you have to add Construct 2 to the 'Exclusions' list for 'File System Shield' in Avast settings.

Open Avast and go to Settings.

There are some tabs on the side, click 'Active Protection'

Turn OFF 'File System Shield' and click 'Customize'

There are some tabs on the side of the newly open window. Click 'Exclusions'

You will see a list of locations, scroll down to the bottom of the list.

You will see a blank text field that has two buttons to the right of it. Click the 'browse' button.

Browse to the location you have Construct 2 installed.

----Don't open the construct 2 folder you want to select the whole folder, not the folders inside.---

Click the box next to the Construct 2 folder.

If done correctly you will see the selected path in the text field, selected 'OK'.

The selected path you just entered will be highlighted in the list of Exclusions.

Make sure you click 'Add' on the bottom of the window.

Close the window with the 'X' or click 'OK'.

It is important you turn 'File System Shield back on.

Turn 'File System Shield' back ON.

Now you should be able to open any .Capx file.

  • That is what I was asking. I couldn't figure out how to put loopindex into a sub-event, so I ended up making a local variable. I didn't think of adding loopindex into "Compare two values". When I think "Compare two values" I think of Instance, local and global variables. Still learning how flexible Construct 2 is. Thanks again. You're always helpful.

  • I was thinking it did that too, but wasn't to sure.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • I figured it out. I had "set Variable to Loopindex" in the loop event, but in the loop's sub-event I still had it referencing loopindex instead of the variables, so I was thinking they were being ignored... Opps.... Thanks again for your time.

  • Make 'or' Block is what I was needing for the Or statement, I would have had to look that up, Thanks for that solution.

What I meant is how do I compare a loopindex() or how do I use a variable to get a loopindex?

  • I have a function that creates objects by using a loop.

    0,0 _ 0,1 _ 0,2 _ 0,3

    1,0 _ 1,1 _ 1,2 _ 1,3

    2,0 _ 2,1 _ 2,2 _ 2,3

    3,0 _ 3,1 _ 3,2 _ 3,3

    For "X" from 3 to -1:

    For "Y" from 3 to -1:

    ......................................Create tiles... etc

So now I need it to only render when "X" or "Y" loopindex equals 0 or 3.

In other words I want it to only render on the edges of the made grid and not in the center.

I can't find/think of a way to compare the loopindex of each loop or to insert a variable into it somehow.

  • In a project sometimes you start off using a common image size and a general plan. Whether you realize it or not, during the process of working on your project it will start communicating to you. It starts telling you to change certain things or to take things in a different direction, it is only limited to your ability to accomplish what is being asked. That being said...

I have plenty of objects that are 64x64 and after working for a while I realized it will look better if many objects were half the size. My question is does making an objects size smaller in Construct 2 using it's Common Properties take up more resources during game play than using a 3rd party image editor and saving 40+ images to half the size and putting them back into Construct 2? It normally wouldn't matter if it were a small game, but the game that is being made has a lot of potential to grow in a lot of different directions and I have to optimize everywhere. If it doesn't take up resources other than the extra kb from image size than I would like to save the time. Thanks in advance.

  • So if I only had one field in the whole game that required keyboard for input, but the rest of the game is mouse or touch, I still have to add keyboard? I am asking if smart devices will automatically recognize input fields and bring up keyboard or if keyboard input has to be added into the project so the device will recognize a text field?

  • No. The error was caused by me. I copied a project folder to take my project into another direction. After a while I liked how the new direction was going so I then erased the old project folder and changed the name of the newer project folder. I only assume the newer project had links associated to the old location.... You replied really fast, that surprised me. You caught my older post before I was able to edit it.

  • I know this is an old post, but I just got the same thing and the same missing files were not being replaced. The problem and the solution is still the same. I was surprised I didn't find much info on this when I looked it up so that is why I am posting this. Someone will need this at some time and no need to make a new post if you can give a solution in an existing one.

They files that are missing are files used in every project so what I did was create a New Empty Project and locate the files missing in the Projects Bar. I then opened the Image Editor by clicking on the missing files and saved them into my project location. I then went back to my project and added them manually.

I tried just finding the file location of every image but couldn't find them all, I can only assume I didn't look hard enough or some of them are being resized.

For the files that are not in every project you can just relocate that files location and add them back in manually. I also had a sound missing.

  • I understand adding "Keyboard Input" if keys are used during game play, because you have to define the key functions, but if they are only being used to type is it really needed? Entering a player name for example.

Some mobile devices have a mouse or have the ability to be hooked up to one. Does "Touch Input" work with a mouse if exported to another device?

  • Sorry for the late reply. Thank you for your time. I am small bit confused.

Why are you using OriginalWindowWidth/Height and not WindowWidth/Height?

Is 200 and 2500 just based off of the Layout Size?

Why are you setting LerpStepX and LerpStepY what are they used for?

It seems like they are being used elsewhere but isn't being shown.

  • ... Site, I don't use torrents.

  • I just figured something new might have been written wrong. Thanks, will do.

  • I suppose I could set a hard limit and then Add/Subtract from Camera Object X/Y to cause it to slow down. The only issue is the slide will be different, unless someone knows how to translate 8direction deceleration into X/Y value.... I have to leave now.
