  • Just to be clear, the "Gambling" sub section on the site licensing is yet to be announced.

It's not for the genre of game, but the company making the games. If you're making "Gambling style games" where no actual money is at stake you don't need a gambling Construct license from us. If you are making a game where actual money is at stake, you need a Construct gambling license.

    Current draft states:

[quote:21ark4h2]If your business has a gambling license or it's primary operation is related to the gambling industry, you must have a Construct 3 Gambling License.

We will price licenses to these types of businesses on a case by case basis. Their operations and intentions of usage of Construct are different enough for us to split them as a separate category of customer. In Gibraltar as an example, to make gambling games you need to pay a minimum of £85,000 per annum for a licensing fee (ignoring costs relating to compliance).

[quote:21ark4h2]And the only game that give you the opportunity to get back your money - is gambling.

Basically the gambling business model is "Pay to play", and yeah, it is not game of skill, it is a game of luck where the odds are not in your favor, but the player returns back about 97% of the money back, and players know what they are going for. Some people win, some loose.

But why from those 3% income (bruto) you want to charge more than from 100% income (bruto) of monthly payments model.

Are you developing gambling games for money with a gambling license?

The straw that broke the camels back was him falsely accusing me in public of attempting to manipulate other forum members into driving him off the website. My decision to perm ban him was concreted by the revolting personal and threatening emails he sent us afterwards.

This thread has run it's course as it's going OT and the OP is no longer here so I'm going to lock it up. Understand there are some side topics being discussed in here, if you want to continue them feel free to start a new thread.

The new platform is not going to get the benefits the forum offers for exploring what the suggestions would entail.

I don't see any harm in opening discussions about specific suggestions for general discussion

  • No problem and thank you for the comment, much appreciated!

    Origin story ?

Ashley wanted to call it Cirrus after the cloud type, but that .com was taken so he swapped a few letters about

  • We always say it in office as Skirra (pronounced like Skipper) but most people say Seera or Sirra

  • On a side note, since there doesn't seem to be anywhere else proper to mention it, are you still going to do away with Scirra as a name? Seems strange to refer to the company as Construct, I can't do it. Or maybe the Construct Team. But Scirra still rolls off the tongue (keyboard?) easier.

Yes we are, will always be our corporate name/official business name, but we're going to be slowly dropping it from communications/branding etc. Part of me feels a little sad seeing it go from front and centre to the back a little bit more as well! But I'm sure it's the right decision. You wouldn't believe the amount of ways we've heard Scirra pronounced, and times I've had to spell it phonetically on the phone!

Being able to say tom at construct dot net instead of tom at "now let me spell it for you, sierra charlie... yes that's right, no not skeariah, skeerah" will save me a few hours each year

  • I'll add some to the positivism

    Tom

A couple years ago I thought your presence here seemed rather useless (couldn't see your contribution to scirra).

Now I've been gone and out most of the last 18 months, but man, you've stepped up.

Nice forum presence and arranging a wildcards of things ... Nice work ^_^

P.s. add a new blog occasionally (personal interest ones)

Lots going on behind the scenes that doesn't impact people directly - fixing bugs on website etc. A good chunk of every day is taken up with businessy stuff as well, and some customer support (although Julien is a star and manages to do the bulk of it!)

Have also been working on the Construct.net website for over a year which has been a pretty big engineering challenge. You'll see lots of rapid improvements on the site after the beta (from now until then it's working on the payments system which is fiddly).

  • The fact it only runs on android doesn't cut it for the more serious and devoted developers.

Are you talking about the Construct 3 editor, or games made in Construct 2/3, or multiplayer?

  • You haven't been harsh at all! I don't want people to feel they can't be critical - you can and that is often some of the most valuable feedback we can action.
