  • Nah, it's all good

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have said 'cluttered' Sorry, my mistake.

A rant about products is always good, I'm sure the WoW team would appreciate hearing all your feedback if you're not happy with WoW. But this probably isn't the best place to talk about WoW... speaking of WoW... must resist... the urge...

  • I don't post on the blizzard boards, because I am not a member of their boards nor do I intend to be and to be honest they're making gazillions without my help so I doubt they could give a crap and half about my opinions

I'm pretty sure they do. This isn't about money, if you know how something could be improved, speak up and you'll be heard

[quote:1l67fz6z]I'm also not cluttering the boards with anything

if you don't enjoy the spirit of open discussion then don't come to open topic

I know you work for blizzard, but that doesn't preclude me from speaking openly about my feelings to my other scirra colleagues

Whoa, take it easy! I was just suggesting that it'd be smarter to post that critique on the Blizzard boards, where tons of Blizzard people will see it, that's all.

    [quote:1l67fz6z]I'm sure it's difficult

so is designing an operating system capable of supporting countless devices from several eras, as well as thousands of apis from said eras, with tens of thousands of hackers trying to exploit and destroy your OS, or compromise other users' privacy, with a userbase of hundreds of millions, but that doesn't stop people from criticizing microsoft.

Again, I ddn't mean that in a harsh way - It's always good if people share their comments and critique, that's why I was suggesting you should probably copy 'n paste that stuff over to Blizzards boards, where Blizzard will actually see it.

  • So why don't you send that rant to Blizzard or post it on their boards instead of cluttering the boards here? I assure you that the designers won't see what you have to say here.

Also, remember that designing and maintaining an MMORPG that has over 10 million subscriptions is no easy task at all. And Blizzard is definitely always improving the world, trust me on this

  • Oh fuck, I could've thought of that. It must've been motion blur.

    Fuck.

    Hope that'll be fixed soonish.

  • Alrighty.

Since Construct is still pretty buggy and can even corrupt your projects right now, it'd be great if we'd have a versions feature.

Which means that Construct would automatically setup a versions folder in the root directory of the game and save versions with .0001 .0002 .0003, etc. extensions every, say, 10 minutes.

I just added a new layout yesterday night and oversaved my cap, cause I thought it'd be okay, but as it turns out, Construct seems to mess up the layout ordering or something. So anytime I now add more than 1 layout, Construct will crash. The first layout will always work, but 2, 3, 4, etc. - all of em will crash. Doesn't matter whether it's a new layout or a cloned one.

In cases like this, having access to an older version would've saved my ass.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Darn. I created a new project yesterday, set everything up and figured out now that as soon as I add a second layout, Construct crashes before the runtime starts. The funny thing is that I can move the layouts around, so if I move the second layout to happen before the first layout, it'll work, yet, as soon as I then start layout 2 (which was Layout 1 a second ago), it crashes again - so it's not something funky going on in the layout, I guess the layout ordering must be fucked up or something.

  • Same problems with this build. The controller slowdown bug is in there and I can't start the runtime for Sein, because I get that FX error.

  • Haha, what the hell! I found out what's causing it:

I have 2 players, both have an x360 controller Plugin assigned to them. If I leave the second controller idle for a long time, it disconnects automatically - and THAT's when the framerate is dropping like crazy. If I connect again, smooth 60fps.

    Totally funky.

  • I need this.

We should have a hue / saturation shader by default in Construct. That shit's just sooo useful.

  • This build seems to have performance problems too. Like, sometimes I get 5-10 fps, then I get 60 fps... I haven't yet figured out what causes this. I just had like 20fps for the whole day, now I changed one canvas object to 50% opacity and boom, 60fps, no slowdowns. This doesn't always work though, but it must've done something.

Though during the last couple of versions, I noticed that there were still Construct Processes running the background when I closed the program, which slowed down the computer.

Also, I use dual screens and if I have Firefox (or Songbird, curiously) open on the second monitor), the performance drops a LOT as well.

    Weird weird.

  • Still get the same fx file error. I sent the required files to David, hope you guys are able to solve that issue.

  • For me, in 99.3 with moBlur on Construct crashes if I go to the next layout.

  • Something must have still changed. My project loads up in 99.3, but doesn't in 99.4, even if you feed the exact same fx shaders into it.

  • Okay, it even happens if I copy all the old fx shaders to the new effects folder, so the way Construct interprets the fx files must be different now.

  • Did you transfer all of the non-native effects you used in your cap to the 99.4 effects folder?

Yep. If it doesn't find an effect, Construct tells you anyway.

I'll try a couple of things today.
