  • Um... isn't Construct all about using plugins... oh, I get it, you mean external plugins. Never mind.

  • But I don't want my brain to blow up! :|

Still. This is a pretty nice postcard ya got there, pardner. Sure beats the heck outta those cheesy Hallmarks.

  • Well, I don't think Construct has a native object deactivation feature (in which objects aren't rendered or their commands processed in certain conditions), but it is possible to make it so that a certain set of events aren't processed until the player is close enough to the object. It's just a bit tedious.

  • KA-BAM SON. OVER 9,000 POINTS.

That is a pretty epic-looking game right there. I'm gonna try it out right now.

  • Twenty-five slaves. Twenty-five slaves to make the clothes I'm wearing, twenty-five slaves to make the metals I'm using to type this, twenty-five innocent human beings to serve a man who sits at a computer all day and postulates as to the meaning of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

... The world's a seriously screwed up place. I just wish I knew what to do about it...

  • Um... no idea if anyone asked for this before I did, but can you put up a qarp tutorial for us math newbies as well? I never really understood what that was all about, myself.

Other good tutorials for game math would be modulus and... lessee... well, I dunno. The Sine behavior would be great, I think.

  • Nuttin' for me but "There is nothing to preview", big bold font, Times New Roman. You guys have any ideas about why this keeps happening? Does it have anything to do with the "NoFollow is applied to all links within this forum" thing?

  • Well, looks like boring, complicated, and very time-consumin's gonna have to be the way to go...

Maybe you should try reading ironic Dilbert comics to pass the time?

(Forgive me for not really adding much content to the discussion. I'm having problems with my graphics card as well, so it's kind of ingratiating for me, too.)

  • Alright. I've got this one!

So if we add 180 to 300, we get 480. Now, if we modulus* 480 by 360, we get 120 (Construct does modulus automatically for angles). Easy peasy flaming lemons.

In general, the solution is simply to add 180 to the angle you're trying to make opposite.

*The remainder of division between two numbers.

  • Thanks. This is a very nice example, though the sheer amount of events in there could be a bit debilitating. Good work!

  • It's just a demonstration of Python's ease of use, I suppose. The lack of MouseKeyboard support in Python Scripting (or lack of documentation for using it there) makes things a lot harder.

Still, I think I would recommend to DravenX that he use the traditional GM method - 'hspeed' and 'vspeed' private variables controlled by keyboard inputs to create smooth movement. (It's hard to explain. Just remember "horizontal speed" and "vertical speed" and you'll be able to figure it out.)

  • Try Construct 3

  • Southeast Virginia reporting, over. *bleep*

Storms supposed to come in tomorrow (which is, ironically enough, on my birthday - coincidence?) - shouldn't be too bad. I mean, this got billed to me as "slightly less worse than Isabel", and Isabel was hardly terrible.

The fact that it might hit NYC sure mixes things up. Hope my grandma (and aunts, and uncles, and cousins) up there'll be okay...

Yeesh. The East Coast has really been getting the short end of the stick these days - first the forest fires, then the earthquake, and now the hurricane... getting pretty ridiculous here.

  • Well, I guess I'm sad to see the ol' guy fall off... well, most of his throne, anyway. Guy's still a literal Chairman of the Board, if I can remember correctly, so he can still guide the company somewhat.

What I think will be really interesting is how the big M will react to this. I ain't a genius when it comes to market policy, so whatever Microsoft does in the aftermath of this shocker will be a surprise to me.

  • Hm... it says I need the SpriteButton plugin to open the cap file.

  • I'm getting a similar error with the latest version of C2 - I can't see the layout screen itself, but everything else is fine. I'm using Windows 7 with a AMDM880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 (yeesh, what a mouthful!) graphics card and have re-installed C2 a ludicrous number of times.

(I think there was a similar bug with r44 or so with that kind of graphics card.)
