  • Fimbul, thank you, I will check that out a little later tonight, my plate is overloaded as it is at the very moment. I will get back to you shortly!

  • The second problem is that Ashley is already super busy and overwhelmed by the maintenance of his own codebase, his features and all.

Yeah, that was why I thought it would be useful to takes other features to implement. But I now better understand the ridiculous potential legal ramifications. And obviously the debugging process involved with other people's code could be a pain, though only since there are only 2 [or so it appears] active developers in Scirra. Obviously, generally, other projects rely upon several coders implementing various features into a common framework.

So yeah, I understand better now. Thanks for the explanation, the legal tiering was very informative.

  • Thank you R0J0!

  • Thank you for your response!

I don't have any outstanding legal knowledge, but I feel a legal system that doesn't protect the recipient of a gift (in this case, a plugin, etc), and allow for the use of such a gift through any reasonable means, is unreasonable.

If someone writes me a book, and gives it to me for christmas, and says "do with it as you please", in writing and signed, that that should be sufficient to ordain permissions.

It's a shame all of that work doesn't get to be utilized on the same stage it was meant for. At least not with the same kind of confidence, or something related.

    Thanks again!

  • Not like it hasn't been said, but excellent job newt, and its admirable how well you keep up with the questioner. Not this one, necessarily, just simply your commitment to general assistance.

  • Hello!

    predictiving aiming circa 2008

I have been searching around for information regarding predictive aiming implementations into C2, and have been having difficulty discovering how best to utilize it today.

Has Ashley built it into C2 as a native plugin, as he guessed he may in his forum post above? I've looked through the behavior and plugin listings and nothing caught my eye.

Speaking of the behaviors and plugins, I am curious why these features from the community [so far as I can tell, though I am far from certain] aren't built into C2 itself more often. To shield the user from greater complexity?

Perhaps I am simply ignorant to this subject, and indeed I expect I am. But why not take the communities hard work and embed it into the program itself? Perhaps it is already done and I am far too new to have recognized it?

    Thank you!

  • newt

Understood, I'll give it another shot at some point. I hope it doesn't appear that I was intending to bash the source, simply that it was empty upon my arrival.

    Thanks for your response!

  • FYI --- There are no games listed here. At least not when I checked. And there is no easy way to delete your account.

So either this is finished, idle, I had bad timing, or it's bogus.

  • Thanks again Kyatric!! (Also known as Kyat on the #Construct channel on IRC)

    ...getting there... :D

  • GamerGon

Thank you for your response, a dropbox C2 install sounds like a great idea!

  • > Awesome, thank you for your response, Kyatric (of whom I imagine to also be Kyat on the Mibbit forum)!

Yes. The mibbit forum being also known as the #construct channel on IRC ^^

Haha, yeah I thought I might be corrected on that one <img src="smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0" align="middle">

  • Hello!

I am a recent graduate of Temple University, with a BA in Broadcasting, Telecommunications, and Mass Media.

I've also formally studied business management, finance, international business, Chinese, and philosophy.

I graduated 8 months ago, and have since been engaged in a great many endeavors. I began by building a studio and workstation, creating Phy GTS (gaming and technology studio) on Youtube. Before getting off the ground, the show's name was changed to Phy Global Technology Studio, because I was finding myself uninterested in covering gaming news updates.

The episode provided below is the only episode that I completed in 24 hours time, and thus is the only show that made it onto youtube. It was my first beta episode, demonstrating the primary format of the show, primary to people I know, and was a major accomplishment for me, since I had taught myself the Adobe Production Suite from the ground up over the past few months, creating all the animations and graphics for the show myself, with virtually no prior experience in this area, outside of tinkering a bit with photoshop and illustrator years before.

Unfortunately, just following the release of my first beta episode, my school loans came in and it became necessary for augment my income through another means. This has caused me to have to postpone the work with the show, perhaps indefinitely, in order to become self sufficient. This is why the framework for Phy GTS exists, and essentially nothing more. Sad day. Here's a link if you'd like to see that lonely, generally underwhelming first beta episode: Phy GTS

Since postponing production a couple months ago, I have been hard at work, and before telling that tale, I will note one immense development that has taken place just 3 weeks ago: I have discovered that I am gluten intolerant.

While this doesn't appear to be good news on the surface, it is ultimately outstanding. This is because, for the past 2-4 years, I have been unwell virtually everyday. It has been an outrageous condition, and I've been trying countless measures to alleviate the symptoms, by changing my diet several times over, changing my exercise schedule, and seeing different doctors (though I've refused medication - why take something to suppress symptoms of something from which the cause is unknown?).

Anyways, I have since confirmed that the gluten intolerance has been the culprit. I have been enduring rather intense anxiety symptoms for many months, which have been increasingly disruptive to my workflow, which is generally non-stop 7 days a week.

Enough about that. Point being, It's been rough, and recently I feeling outstanding! Truly thankful to have finally discovered, and overcome, the cause of my lack of well-being.

So over the past month, I've started my own local laptop repair business, Affordable Laptop Services (or ALS). Here's the website: Affordable Laptop Services. This is my first website ever, I hope you like it.

I've also obviously recently become involved in Construct 2. I investigated Stencyl, Game Maker, Game Salad, and Unity, but after due diligence, I found Construct 2 to be the most promising for my current ambitions. I can't explain enough just how happy I am to have discovered this tool. Prior to discovering it, I was preparing to learn ActionScript3 so that I could begin gamemaking with Flash and Flash Builder, both of which I have very little experience (though I've become a bit more comfortable with Flash over the past several months, just haven't focused on it). After Effects has served as my primary animation tool, coupled with CrazyTalk Animator Pro.

One of the many reasons I love C2 so much is because it reminds me so much of the Starcraft Broodwar Campaign Editor and SCMDraft2. I used both of those extensively to build some very large and complex (and awesome?) Used Map Settings maps. I probably made around 100 maps in total.

So now I'm working on my laptop repair business, building a couple games with C2 (and doing TONS of reading for it - thanks to the awesome community!), investigating multiplayer integration, though I fear it's over my head at this point, and watching conferences on HTML5 gaming development. I'm also applying for 2 positions at Weebly in the coming week, so wish me luck!

Oh and by the way, I understand that my username and avatar may give off the impression that I am female. This is not true, and I will never pretend otherwise. I have been using the username "teahousemoon" for some time; it is the name of an Enya song, and I absolutely love the name, plus the instrumentals are so fitting for it. Likewise, I discovered this image online some time ago, and thought it was also quite fitting to depict the name and feeling of the song, or perhaps Enya's music in general. Just seemed a good fit, I apologize if this choice of avatar and name are deceiving...I just like them.

Anyways, that is a bit about me. I'm here to stay, so I look forward to continue to get to know, and become involved with the C2 community. So far I've felt very welcome, and I am excited to contribute in any ways that I can.

    Thank you for reading!

  • Awesome, thank you for your response, Kyatric (of whom I imagine to also be Kyat on the Mibbit forum)!

You've made it very clear, and thanks so much for providing the alternative means of installation!

  • I tried to search this a couple times and wasn't able to get an answer that I felt completely confident with, so:

Are the bundled assets that come with the [personal] licence edition of C2 actually, strictly speaking, ours to use?

I did see that they may only be used with C2 creations? However, does that also mean they can be used commercially within our games made in C2?

    Thank you!

  • This program is amazing, and [Ashley and Tom's] work ethic and vision are obviously the precursors.
